I've gone back and forth on it so many times! I like that I can get a lightweight tire that I can get all the flex that the MC lift let's me have so the 35" Pats work for all of that and without a re-gear. Helps that the Pats in that size are fairly cheap at less than $250. The only downside that I have heard for them is they have a short life comparatively. So essentially I'm doing the opposite as you. I started with the 315/70 17's because my Ram needed tires. Handles like a go-cart compared to the Ram. Since I have a manual trans, I will probably regear since 6th is useless below 70. And as long as I am re-gearing I will probably regear for 37S and do the lift at the same time.
Why not 37s for you?
If I went 37s now, I'm on the fence about if I would need to regear, would probably need to swap out wheels, and would be doing inner fender liners at the same time. Not quite ready for those steps so just decided that 35s were the easy option for now.
