So we have out first Jeep. It’s a 2020 JL sport. We’ve put on a front stubby bumper and as of now, we haven’t lifted it...but we will. I’m wondering, what’s the biggest tire I can run on my stock 17x7.5 wheels? Thanks, y’all.

You can fit 315/70/17 on them equivalent of a 35” tire. You will need a lift and wheel spacers to do it though.

It's gonna vary by tire manufacturer, but 295/70 (11.5"+ wide) are about the widest and 285/75 are probably the tallest metric sizes I've seen that are in spec for 7.5 rims.

I just did this. I was trying to keep my stock wheels. After researching wheels/tires/lift, I went with a Metalcloak 2.5" lift. In order to keep the stock wheels, I was going to have to either get 2" spacers or buy new wheels. In the end, I opted for new wheels. It's really a personal choice whether you want spacers or wheels with less backspacing. Fuel Anza wheels with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 315/70/17.

I appreciate the info. Already planning on a 2.5 lift. Just not sure which to do first.

That size is closer to 34.5" tire. Not a huge difference from 35" but every bit helps with fitment.

Depends on the manufacturer on actual tire sizes so I wouldn't be too concerned about it either way as the 315/70/17 is essentially a 35" tire. For example, a KM3 is a measured diameter of 34.5" in a 35/12.5/17 which is smaller than Toyo's 315/70/17 and measures in at 34.6". Toyo has a 35x12.5x17 as well and its 34.8" wide just for reference. Some companies don't even stock both size since they are essentially the same. (all measurements from manufacture websites)

A 35 is probably the biggest tire you're going to want to run as listed above but I personally wouldn't worry about differing between 315/70 vs 35/12.5, you're talking about 1/10ths of a inch difference so I'd go with whatever tire you like the most.

If you are planning to do a lift, do that first. The lift will dictate what tire size you can fit.

Big tires without a lift will cause rubbing...if you’re seton 35’s I’d lift it first.

The 315s on my F150 are at 33.25” with the weight of the truck on them at 35 PSI. The Jeep weighs a little less, so maybe 33.50”.
