I’m no expert, but the rule of thumb is 33” on sport and Sahara, 35s on Rubicon with no modification. Can you jamb bigger on? Yes, but it will rub at full articulation. That’s what I’ve read....
That seems right, as on my JK Sport I could only go to 33s without a lift kit. I'm assuming the difference with the Rubicon is the suspension. Which makes me wonder about my new Willys, since it is basically a Sport with Rubicon rear shocks.

Rubicon has taller springs and the front fenders are higher, not sure about differences in the rear fenders.

@JL18 I'm curious - were the wheel spaces absolutely necessary? I love the look of your rig, and have been considering 285/70/18 vs 295/70/18 for my factory Sahara rims. I have the RC 2.5" lift coming and will be installed before I upgrade the tires - my concern is with the 295's rubbing on the inside suspension/steering without a spacer.

It sounds like you were told rubbing would happen - I'm just wondering if it was fender rub or rubbing on suspension/steering on the inside?

I’ve heard of slight rubbing on 295’s on the lowers. 285’s seem to be the limit with stock wheels (sway connected) based on what I’ve read here.

I wish I could answer your question, but everything was put on at the same time. I didn’t try it without and then add them later.

No worries - thanks for letting me know! I've been going back and forth and think I'm just going to go with a new set of 17x9's with an offset of +0 - so I can go with the full 35x12.50's my heart desires :involve:

I wonder if my Sport front bumper wouldn't have to be replaced doing exactly same upgrade ?

I have 295/70 18 Ridge Graps with 18x9 0 offset wheels on a ‘19 Sport S JLU and there is no rubbing with normal driving. Haven’t flexed it out yet but probably won’t until after we install the 2/1.5 lift this week.
