I was wondering if there was a way to improve intake noise without changing the stock filter. I want to keep the stock air box.

I know that for a JK, HPS has a silicone hose: https://www.extremeterrain.com/hps-jeep-wrangler-silicone-intake-hose-black-57-1639-blk.html

However, has anyone done anything to the JL?
Not sure you could use the stock filter, but this would do the trick: https://rippmods.com/products/2018-...9RrU9EJIafdNdbAd8qdNYrwk-iyE-ajuUUyGvky9jSXcg

EDIT: And it's 10% off for Labor day!

By "improve", do you mean increase? If so, you could replace the tube between the filter box and the throttle body, with a tube that doesn't have the Helmholtz chambers on it.

Since the Helmholtz chambers are on the bottom, you could use a hot knife and cut them off, then patch it with some of the plastic from the chambers, using "plastic welding" methods.

What difference does the silicon tube make on the JK?

Thank you! Did you also replace the filter with the oil cotton gauze or did you retain the stock filter?
Do your engine a big favor, don't use an oiled gauze filter.

I have 2 of the AFE dry filters, the "big" one that came with the kit and a standard size one. I just swap them out as needed for cleaning.
One thing to note if you have an aftermarket exhaust it will drown out almost all intake noise.
One of the biggest benefits of this kit in it really cleans up the engine compartment.

There is no "baffling" in the OEM tube. It has Helmholtz chambers off to the side of the tube, which cancel resonant frequencies, but do not restrict flow.
Thank you for correcting me, at least you did know what I was talking about.

One thing to note about the OEM intake tube is the corrugated flex sections. Corrugations disturb the flow in a negative way, by effectively reducing the effective diameter of the flow path. So a smooth connector instead of those corrugated flex connectors is better.

While riding horses up a canyon full of broken rock near Springerville, a friend said "When God made Arizona, he forgot to give it dirt". He must have been right. You don't have any dirt in that engine compartment.

LoL. Arizona is one of the dustiest places on earth, I'm just OCD about having a clean engine bay.
