What do people do to prevent the paint rubbing off where the sunrider top hits the hardtop when open??

I don't have this setup/issue - but would some PPF (XPEL, 3M, InvisibleMask, etc.) in that area solve?

That's what I'm thinking, but I'm wondering what long time owners are seeing with painted tops.

I would ping Cassie on the side and ask her about it. IMO, this is not an issue for most. I sling my top open all the time. Have not seen any issue.

The Sunrider flips back onto itself. There is really no contact between the Sunrider and the hardtop.

My Sunrider is open now and I just double-checked for you.

THANKS,

Ive seen pictures and it looks like the top only touches in a small section at the outside corners (and not on all of the tops). The hardtop has a raised section there and I think at most I'll put a square of 3m tape on that spot...

@Frustration

My Sunrider for JL, touches absolutely no where on the hard top!

Mine has been on for about 5 months and 10,000+ miles and is open lots..

crossing fingers, hoping I dont have to mess with it.
I have some cloth top protectant that I'll put on the fabric ahead of install (so I dont have to spray that crap all over the car) then do the install a day after curing...
Looking forward to it.

Done.
Top sits open without touching the paint and at speed doesn't flap or rub...

Installing the Bestop Sunrider also took about 15 minutes.

USER NOTE. If you're going to put a cloth protectant on (303 fabric protectant or Chemical Guys Convertible cloth top protectant), and you should... DO IT BEFORE you install.

I've had a few convertibles and cleaning the overspray from the protectant is a Pain in the A$$. But spraying it on and letting it cure in the sun before you install makes it a breeze.

Thanks.

@Frustration

You might want to remove the gaudy warning decal off the inner SR frame and also the friggin shiny Bestop logo before they kinda grow on and are harder to remove. Both come off easy when you remove soon after the SR is delivered.

Both gone before the top went on. Peeled right off without any residue...
