I've not done as you, but over the 1.5 years (many miles driven with SR open) of having the Sunrider for JL installed, (early on) 3 times I had closed it when I went into a store, etc., then got back in the Jeep, forgot to open the SR, and started driving and at about 35 mph the friggin SR flew open.... now that will make you jump a foot...
So, now, I when I close the SR and do not latch it, I place what you see in the pic below on my magnetic phone holder... This reminds me to open the SR before driving off.. I also place the thing there when I have my battery tender plugged into the JL, so I don't drive off with that attached.
Geeeeeeeez, I truly enjoy my SR.....................................
