best way to wash and protect painted fenders?

i have a new jl with painted fenders and a van with some exterior plastic panels/side mirrors. i’m guessing the best thing to keep theses nice is wash with a mild soap followed by 303 protectant?

for light scratches on the van plastic, use plastX cleaner and polish? thanks for any help!
