Got started with these, and they sound great. However, if you're like me, you won't stop there. I have now replaced the knee panel and soundbar speakers with 6-1/2"s, added two powered subwoofers, an Alpine headunit, and recently finished my install of a small amplifier. Sounds fantastic, but I did not intentionally go into this wanting to spend $2000 lol.
What powered sub did you go with and where did you put them?

Are you guys/gals that are upgrading your speakers coming from the base speakers or the "upgraded" factory speakers? I have the "upgraded" speakers and imo they are lacking.

I used kicker 4" marine Km4 for the soundbar with Quadratec super tweeters. Then I used DS18 6.5's in the knee panels with pods. I also used JL C2-350x coaxials in the dash uppers. No extra amps..left the sub alone and the cabin sounds fantastic. I figured the Ds18's are usually used in Motorcycles (they are waterproof) and riding in the wind they must give out some good sound ...I was right. Top down doors off sounds great.

Hey man quick question. Pretty new to the sound system game and learning a lot over these past 3-4 days lol.

I've got a standard system in my Jeep (not alpine) and recently got some TAs for my dash. Looking to swap out the knee panels and soundbar but curious is the factory knee panels already 6.5" or you had to do some modifying to fit those DS18s?

Also, could you send over the part # for them?

Hey Dreamcatcher...the knee panels are 4" and they have a smaller box. I purchased the metra pods and modified them to work with the Ds18's . You will def need to power them with an amp to have them give you any sound. If not adding an amp you might be better off using a straight swap of 4" kicker so that the 6.5's don't rob your sound system of the power to the other components.

Got ya! Yea I’ll definitely be running an amp! Was watching some videos on crutchfield and they mentioned getting all your speakers first and then grabbing an amp that matches.

Sound about right?

Make sure what ever your source is that it is the highest quality, like Apple Lossless. That makes a big difference. I went all the way down the slippery slope and installed a Quart stage 6 package. I also added a 400.1 Quart amp and I am running that into the stock sub. After some 70 invaluable emails from Dave at Quart support, I think I have it set up. Pretty happy now that I got the replacement right front driver.
