Looking at a Black 2018 JL Rubicon. The MSRP is 46,185. Dealer has 43,888 on it. What should I reasonably be able to get this Jeep for? It has the regular black fenders and hard top NOT the body paint colored ones. Smaller infotainment screen. 3.6 and Auto.

Thanks,

Some people have been ordering and getting around 5%-7% off of invoice, ends up being somewhere around 10%-12% off of MSRP at some dealers. But you have to wait months for the Jeep to come in. Typically, you will not do as well with a Jeep on the lot. It all depends on the dealer. Some people have traveled hundreds of miles to save some money. Some people have paid MSRP for Jeeps on the lot. You need to decide what you area comfortable with paying, someone out there will always have a better deal, someone else will always pay more than you did.

Thanks. In my head i think if I can get it under 40k then I'm doing okay. At least that is what I'm going to aim for.

I would be shocked if you got it for under $40k. But good luck.

My 2019 Rubicon listed at 46700. I paid just over 42K. Not sure it was the best deal but I was ok with it

So, they have it priced at 5.235% under MSRP...find out the invoice price and shoot for 6% under that... it’s not going under 40k but should be close

Ok here is the correct way to figure this out.

I'm assuming this is a 4-door.

First you get the order guide here: 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4-Door JLU ORDER GUIDE and PRICING (U.S.)

Then you figure the invoice price:
MSRP INVOICE
JLU Rubicon: 41,545 39,576
Automatic 2,000 1,780
Hard Top 1,195 1,064
Destination 1,495 1,495
Total -------------------------
46,235 43.915

I'm off by $50 for some reason. I would have to see the window sticker to know why.

benchmark is 5% below invoice. $41,718

This is before TTL + Doc Fees.

So I would say that is not a very good deal. But $40,000 is not realistic either.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

Here is the my order for the 2019 Wrangler JL Rubicon. I got a price from three dealers and the best price was through the Costco dealer with out any haggling. The MSRP with all my specs is $51,715, the Invoice price is $48,592 and after the Costco discount it comes out to $46,003. Thats a 5.33% below invoice price and 11% below MSRP. Not sure if I can get it any lower than that.

Any thoughts?

The OTD (out the door) price with title, tax and processing comes out to $49,902.

That's a good price. You may be able to save a couple of hundred bucks by signing up for tread lightly and taking the 6% off deal that some dealers have for that but it hardly seems worth it.

I was reading about tread lightly but looks like you have to wait 30 days before you can use the discount. Not sure if I want to wait that long. I am placing the order tomorrow and doing some last minute price checks.

What do you think of that option list? Are there any that are overrated?

My dealer quoted me a Tread Lightly price without me being a member. I signed up the day I ordered. It will probably take 6 weeks for the order to come in (if not longer). So by the time your order comes in, you will have been a member for 30 days.

You just have to be a member when you take possession, not when you order.

Thanks for the tip I just placed the order and managed to get the tread lightly discount on the condition that it will be 30 days before delivery. I ended up at 6.5% below Invoice and 12% below MSRP.

I recommend to try the Costco Auto Program and then add the tread lightly discount. At least in the DC area it gets you at least 6% below Invoice. The Costco dealer in the DC area is Criswell Auto in Gaithersburg, MD.
