I want 35s but I’m curious to see what the gearing is gonna be like with the 4 banger and the 8 speed trans. Right now doing 75 my rpms are right around 2k in 8th. I don’t wanna set it jumping around gears on the highway or be bogged down. I really don’t wanna have to change gears too right away.

On my Sport S, even with the 2.5" lift and wheels with a -12 offset, my 35x12.50x18 tires rub the rear fenders at full flex.
Yeah you guys are all making up my mind for me. Thanks.

Hi,

I have a '19 JLUR on the way (2.0) and I would like to upgrade to 35" tires. I'd like to do this with minimal impact to the DD capability of the Jeep, while still achieving useful off-road increases in capability.

I'm considering BFG KO2s in 325/70R17 since they have a load range C offering. I'd prefer a more aggressive tread pattern but don't want to kill the ride or add a lot of road noise. Open to suggestions here.

As for wheels, would the stock wheels work well with this tire? They seem a bit narrow. I'd rather not spend more if not needed, but if a wider wheel will make a notable difference, I'll do that. The Mopar beadlock wheels seem nice and only add 5lbs a corner.

I have read reports of people having issues with the backup sensors, which I would rather avoid.

Finally on the suspension lift - I like low center of gravity builds. I'd like to lift the minimal amount for full articulation off-road with swaybar disconnected. I'm leaning away from Mopar and towards Teraflex but I am completely open to options here as well.

On road driveability matters to me, so does off-road capability, so I don't mind spending more as this is a tall order. I'm just looking for those with experience to help guide me so I don't spend a fortune rebuying everything.

I have the steel bumper group and will have a winch mounted to start. I'll eventually get aftermarket f/r bumpers (with tire carrier) but wanted to wait a while as the aftermarket grows and people figure out the quirks.

Thanks! Posting this in general as it touches on just about everything, so doesn't fit in any one category on the forum.

I switched out the stock KO2s with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro LT315 /70 R17 and the only thing I did was use a flashcal to calibrate the spedometer and turn the TPMS warning off.

The jeep rides like a dream both on and off road. The spedo adjustment took care of the shift points and tpms adjustment removed the annoying dash light.. (I am running @29 psi for even wear). I rarely hit the highway though-- so, not sure if I can still reliably hit 8th gear.

They're about 1" wider and nearly 2" taller.
No, they're not even close to 2" taller. You shouldn't spread false information, things stick around on the internet forever. The 315/70 KO2 runs very very small, just shy of 34" measured.

Stock tires, 285/70R17, are 32.7", while 315/70R17 are 34.4". That's almost a 2" difference. Where's the false information?

People are commenting about measured height which is always less than sidewall height. BFG KO2s run shorter if you actually measure them under weight of vehicle with normal PSI for driving. They don't measure 34.4", instead in the 33" range.

What's the actual height of the stock KO2s? If what you're saying is accurate, I'm sure they're smaller than 32.7".

Anybody have ridge grapplers? Curious if they fit without mods.
I just got 35" ridge grapplers on 17x9 xd fmj 137 on Friday with no lift. No problems but haven't been wheeling yet

Correct, my rear 315/70R17 BFG KO2 at 39 psi just measured 34 1/16” with a level and laser. The front was 34”.

That sounds like a really high pressure to run them at. I think most are running them in the 28-32 PSI range.

The stock Rubicon tires are 32.2" mounted on the Jeep. The 285/75-17 KO2 is 33" exactly. And the 35x12.50 is 33.5". All of these I measured using a level and tape measure while the tires were on the Jeep.

BFGs run small, but most brands are smaller than their listed sizes due to a difference in how we measure tires vs. how manufacturers measure tires. When we measure, we do a straight line and we use various wheels of various widths at various pressures. The tire makers use a specific wheel and take into account the bulge of the sidewall.
