Hey guys, i’ve got a couple very small chips in my Punk’n Jeeps hood, what are some recommendations for paint repair kits. I’d prefer something idiot proof, as I can be an idiot at times lol.

Anyone have experience with the mopar pens? is there something better out there?

I would think that given the chip like damage you describe, and my presumption that you want this to be a DIY, that the pen is the way to go (I have both for my rig.)

The pen comes, on the other side of the bottle, with the clear coat. The spray does not.

I had to replace a door hinge. It came from the factory primed in black.

That was a situation where the spray paint was the way to go, followed by 2K Clear coat (many light coats of each.) But I think for chips, you're best off with the pen. That's what I use on the kind of damage you describe.

Hardly am I the last word on this topic.

Good luck.

This looks like it would be pretty easy to use, but they don’t ship outside of Canada, and with me living in the US, that’s going to be an issue.

With that being said, have you ever tried the Mopar pen? Curious how this type of kit compares. Looks like the pen might be the way I need to go.

A PDR guy told me about https://www.drcolorchip.com/
I was really impressed. For me, the paint pens are hard to manage and get too blobby.

Would you say it works as well/looks as good as the videos on their website show? It’s looks super easy, but curious if it truly looks as good as the low resolution videos claim lol.

I think it turned out well. It may depend on the color as to how well it hides. I did mine on a black paint job and while it wasn't a showroom quality finish, it hid the flaws well. Maybe if I do a few more applications it would get better. Well worth the money IMO.

I like using the Mopar touch-up. It matches pretty well.
