For roughly the past 20 years I have owned an F-150 and a two-door Wrangler. I am 99.9% sure I'm going to order a gladiator the day the order banks open. I plan to sell my truck and my 2013 JKR. My question is what do y'all think is the best daily driver setup. I'm kind of concerned about 410 gears. My F-150 averages 18.5 miles per gallon. My JKR averages about 16 and 1/2. I would really like to get the best MPG possible. I do not plan to run anything over a 33-in tire. I was just looking for opinions on the best do it all daily driver gladiator. I don't really tow a whole lot. Really just need a bed for odds and ends. My other concern is comfort. My F-150 is like driving a limousine. Point and go. My JKR drives like your typical Jeep. If I had to choose what to drive five straight hours I would choose to F-150. Do you think the gladiator will drive better than a JKU or JK?

I'm with you on your quest. Currently have a '15 Sierra crew 4x4 as what the wife and I have been commuting daily (110mi round). We used her 300c SRT8 for about 3 years before that, a Trailblazer SS before that, a '95 Caddy Fleetwood earlier.

I'm not that happy with the Sierra, but need the 4x4 aspect for KY winters and farm chores. The sierra gets about 18 avg. which is the same as the 300.

I figure 4.10's and 35's would be sweet, but I doubt I'll get 16mpg. The Sierra rides/drives nice, but the trans programming is odd, the A/C quit pre winter so still is broken, brakes went out (brake vacuum pump), interior always looks dirty due to poor cloth texture, etc etc.

I'd say that a pure road Gladiator is the Overland. A pure Jeep is the Sport. A 1st world Jeep is the Sport+. And the overkill Jeep for 99% of buyers is the Rubicon.

I would expect the JT to ride a bit better than the Wrangler due to the longer wheelbase. But you know the Jeep is by no means truly 'comfy' even my Grand Cherokee does not have a luxury ride. It's a compromise you have to live with to get off-road capability.
As far as economy, my GC ecodiesel knocks down 30-31 mpg all day long, hoping the same diesel in the JT will be substantially better than 16.5 mpg. Maybe 25 in stock form?
If you want to stick with the 3.6L, I can't imagine it will do much better than the Wrangler you have now for mileage. I think I read somewhere the JT will be 400# heavier than a JL?

I've never owned a diesel. Didn't plan to wait, but if it would mean getting 20-25mpg, it might be worth it. I just want to make sure this gladiator fits the DD bill. Honestly not looking forward to getting 320 miles of range out of a fill up. Assuming 20 gal tank @ 16mpg. My f150 has close to 700 mile range. 36 gal tank @ 18.5mpg. 320 miles would last Mon-Thur for me driving to work. Doesn't sound fun.

3.73 optional on Rubi? As of now its looking like Overland for me. Want the 8.4" screen, remote start.

I would recommend you read up on the diesel. A lot of advantages and a lot of drawbacks, really depends on they type of driving you will do and what you want out of your vehicle.

Yes if you have never owned a diesel, do your homework. They are expensive. Worth it? Depends on your expectations.

My suggestion is to go drive a JLUR. They drive exceptionally better than a JK, but they it isn’t an f150.

As for mileage my buddies with JLURs we’re getting great mileage on them before they both went 37s. Even on 37s they are getting better than my JKUR did on 37s so I can expect you’ll see an improvement over your JK

Same engine as JLU. I'm going 4:10 for responsiveness. If it sucks over 70 then I'll go 70.

In stock form how much different will the Rubicon be vs. the Overland? Beside road noise from tires I can’t see all that much difference.

What do you define as great mileage? 12-15 | 16-19 | 20+ ? I only ask because the OP indicated 16MPG with 35’s could be acceptable.

Tbh I range do it by KMs per tank. These guys are averaging 600kms to a tank so that’s pretty decent.

I was getting about 520-550 in my JK on 37s.

DEF, pump price, etc.... yea, i've seen w

My 10A JKR screams on the interstate. I keep it to 70 also. That said, i want my Gladiator to be able to run 80 and be comfortable if need be. 80 in my 17' f150 feels like 45 in my rubi.

Don't take me wrong, i'm not beating up on jeeps. I'm just trying to hash out in my mind what will work best as a daily driver. Its either going to be overland or rubi because i want remote start and 8.4" display. Want the rubicon, but....4:10's

Or it's an actual truck and Sport means a little less performance freeway and a lot more performance in weather and off road...
