Hey y'all,

I'm on a budget but I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive front bumper for my 2018 Wrangler Unlimited Sport S. I do want a winch plate for later purchase of a winch. Any help is appreciated seeing as how I'm the ultimate ignorant newbie.

Thanks,

Doc

Check out the barricade bumpers. Budget friendly and get alot of good reviews.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
I've had difficulty finding a steel Rubicon bumper and the ones I did find were much more than aftermarket. I ordered a Warn Crawler Stubby. Not too much money, and decent brand, accepts a winch as is, nothing else (no winch plate needed).

I had an EAG on my 07 JKR. Its a decent bumper and comes with the hoop and winch plate. I bought it on Amazon for under $500. They also make the same bumper for the JL.

Barricade and Redrock 4x4 have winch ready bumpers in the $3-400 range. Both with shackle mounts. By the time you bought shackle mounts and a winch plate for the stock steel bumper you'd spend that much or more. We run the factory steel bumper, as it was on the jeep when we bought it. Although it does the job, there are better options out there for less.

I did rugged ridge arcus. I think it looks really good, and it is light. It includes a winch plate. The only downside is installation, the hooks arent welded and it is a royal pain in the ass to install. I think the SB gen3 winch looks super clean in it. Didnt plan for it.

Be prepared for a nearly endless research phase.

My advice is to first determine what features you're looking for:
  1. Stubby, mid, or full?
    1. There are 3rd party modular options (like the factory steel) but only like, 2
  2. Sunken winch or exposed?
  3. Do you want to use your factory LEDs?
  4. Do you want it to have a matching rear option?
  5. Do you want it to have a hoop (or the option to attach one)?
Once you figure out your own personal answers to these questions, you'll have limited the possible pool from 1,501,233,347 options to about 327,291.

The next question is what's your budget?

That should drop it down to ~128,381. Then you simply pick one of those.

Was your winch pretty easy to mount on the quadratec stubby? Leaning this way
Fairly easy. I did everything by myself. So I put the bumper on first then the winch. If you've got an extra pair of hands to help, it's probably easier to attach the winch to the bumper first, then lift the bumper onto the jeep. Maybe a couple of hours it took. Most of that is running wires and cables. Removing fog lights from old bumper to new, winch cables under the air box.
