Beginner offroad mods for Utah trip for JULS?

Hi folks. We're driving our stock 2020 JLU Sahara to Moab, Utah for spring break with the kids, towing our Taxa Cricket RV. The plan is to check out some National Parks. But we just realized it's over Jeep Easter Safari week which has got us thinking about trying off-roading. This is a daily driver on snowy Wisconsin country roads and highways but we're open to doing some mods to let us see more of the Moab area. This will I've researched some threads about skid plates, and I'm leaning against adding any new ones since we're not experienced enough for the really extreme trails but could be convinced. Anything anything else folks recommend?

Tires were the best mod we ever made for Moab. I took a stock Tacoma to the top of the world.

It will do a lot with no mods. In my case I've put Rubicon takeoff tires on my JLU Sport and I have the Rubicon takeoff springs/shocks waiting.

Moab is unique- there are a lot of trails that would be better suited to a Rubicon or beyond, there are a few trails suitable for the stock JLU. It is hard to find named trails that are somewhat in between, but also there are a lot of scenic drives that don't require any significant off-roading. There are more easily accessable places to see than you can cover in one week.

It might be better if you plan your itinerary, places you would like to go, and ask here about specific trails.

1. Low miles Rubicon takeoff suspension (150-250) is an easy and inexpensive change in addition to some $70 Mopar lower control arms that are .250” longer than stock...,being so inexpensive.

2. A little taller tires (33-34” tall for 1000-1500 ish)

3. & an AEV Procal (150?) or Tazer Lite (220) to recalibrate your speedometer after the tires.

Air down and you can use a cheap pump to air up while you make sandwiches. lol

Go do Fins and Things. There are bypasses.

Also, FYI, EJS was canceled and reinstated and canceled and I think is back on as of yesterday, I think. Theres a non-zero chance it could be off again before the date arrives

I did the Moab area a few years ago with (at the time) my stock Sport S JKU. Other than some LED lights, the only other "mod" I had was some good AT tires. Same size as the stock highway tires but much more aggressive. Even with a stock Jeep, there is plenty of trails that will help give you confidence in your Jeep and fantastic memories.
