yesterday we started the lift. Rubicon springs/shocks in addition to Rough Country 2.5” spacer lift.

holy moly!! not bad for $300 worth of lift!

And sitting next to my Sport on Rubi suspension and 35s

Looks awesome! I will be doing the same to my sport here in the next couple weeks. Do you remember the spring numbers from the Rubicon suspension?

no i dont. I know they were the highest lifting springs because i got them from a guy who wanted to go higher and he got another set. I dont think its much of a difference though. Maybe 1/4”

Here's another before and after perspective. Just completed Mopar 2.5" with 35's on a 2 door Sport S. Couldn't be happier. Runs well both on and off-road.

All look good. Planning my next mods. What wheel backspacing and offset are you most using to fit the 35? How much do the tires stick out past the fenders?

Ted,

Truthfully, I've not measured the backspacing, perhaps a wheel expert can chime in with this spec. However, I went with a 17x9" -12mm offset wheel. This brings the tires further away from the suspension. This was simply a standard wheel offering. I also removed the stock front plastic air dams for further clearance.

I've been wheeling now fairly often, with about a half dozen difficult and one severe rated trail with my current setup. I've also invested in the Teraflex Sway Bar Quick Disconnects that really improve off-road articulation.

One of the trails 'Wheeler Lake' near Breckenridge CO was particularly interesting because my Sport (with non-locking open diffs) made the entire trail unassisted while a few other Rubicon's needed winching and tow strap help. I consider myself still a rather novice driver but these 35s and the disconnected sway bars really make all the difference in the world.

As far as tire stance, they do stick out from the fender flares by almost a couple inches. But I like the look and certainly the better off-road performance. With these tires, I've measured almost a 4.5" inch lift from stock height overall. Three from the standard Mopar lift and one and half from the increase in tire size (from the stock 31.5" Michelins, to the 34.8" Duratracs).

I'm also certain that the little bit of a wider stance helps lower the center-of-gravity to compensate for the lift. I'm [really] liking the overall ride both off and on road with this setup. I've only lost a couple average MPG so far. From sub 25 to nearly 23 miles per gallon. My only true downside with these 35s is that because of the stock Sport 3.45 gear ratio my 8 speed auto never selects eighth gear on the freeway anymore. No big deal, because I can always manually select it. This is now one really serious overdrive.

Here are some more tire perspective pics. Hope this helps.

That would be a 4.53" backspacing. I went with the same dimensioned wheel.

As @Headbarcode noted, a 17x9 with -12mm offset works out to 4.5-inches of backspace.

HERE'S A CHART you can use for quick offset/backspace conversion.
