Didn't get too far searching "grill"
What do you guys use for your grill when hitting the trails or beach?
I've even see some with a full residential grill on a swing arm off the trailer hitch
To me, simple and compact is the winner

I highly recommend a "Flatpit".

https://flatpit.bigcartel.com/

Super high quality.

There are others for less, but I'd be wary of cheaper. A hot fire will make thin metal bendy and then you're screwed.

It's a grill, a firepit, an oven. It's great.

Wrap some meat and beans in a flour tortilla, wrap it in tin foil and put it under your hood and by the time you get to where your going it will be nice and hot. when i was in the Army, We used to put our C-Rations under the hood of our jeep, on the manifold, to heat up our lunch.

I have an older model in Weber's Q series that I have been very happy with. It's designed for camping and traveling and is compatible with those small, disposable green canisters of propane. I actually have it hooked up to a full size tank and use it regularly.

If you're looking for charcoal, I recommend the Weber Smokey Joe.

I have moved to using my Colman stove. Here is an old pic with a couple New York steaks going.

I now bring the cast iron pan to sear them. Also makes coffee in the morning as well as egg and bacon burritos.

Is that sitting on a table, or built in to gate?

I'm glad you posted this. I'll have to see if we still have the one I inherited from my parents. Last I knew it was in the basement at my mom's house, but we sold a bunch of stuff when she sold the house, so... maybe getting a new one. haha

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
Over the years, 30+ of camping, I have tried just about everything. I do have a nice stainless steel grill that you buy at Sams Club and if you do, get the table that goes with it. works great. the two burner stove by Coleman works great. I never take them any more.

a few months ago, I bought a Tembo Tusk skottle and that thing is amazing. You can cool literally anything on it.
Tembo Tusk Skottle
the site has a cook book that you can download for free with over 100+ recopies that were submitted by users.

You can also take the burner off the skottle and stand comes with it so that you can use a gas bottle and the burner as a single burner stove to cook on with pans or to make coffee.
It easy to pack, sets up in under a minute, cook everything on it, super easy to clean, and super easy to pack up and put away.

Here are some meals that I cooked in the last couple weeks out on the trail.

t-Bone steaks with mushroom and onion.

The cool thing with the skottle is that you can cook stuff move it off to the side and keep it warm while you cook other thing. Like when cooking potatoes for breakfast. When they are done, move them to the side and cook your eggs.

Yum breakfast burritos., push the eggs to the side and brown the shells.

We use a Flatpack. It fits in everything from my Flatty to the JLU-R and we just pack a few lumps of match light charcoal in a little tupperware container so it's a no brainer to get things cooking. We've struggled with the little green propane bottles at higher elevations and in colder weather, but charcoal doesn't care ;)
