Your choice for sure.
But it makes zero since to buy a shell and add to it the quality and cost.

I think of it in a different way:

#1
less is more (less equipment to break more time enjoying the outside)
after all we're talking about Fiat quality here - that's all I am going to say - I wanted the cheapest and most reliable engine with no electrification of any kind, the only compromise I made was when I got the auto for wife to drive. and to avoid her inevitable purchase backlash.

#2
a Rubicon would have been twice as much - sure I miss the true lockers but I have friends in high places (with ropes and winches)
Almost had one for a day and if it weren't for some title issues with my trade ...

#3
you are heavily and yearly taxed on what new car is worth here in ME (in MSRP)
and I am not taking about sales tax :(
over 1K only in yearly registration fees: e.g. 1280 Rubicon vs 648 for the Sport
the fees do go down as it gets older.

#4
got the rubicon looks (well willis really) I always loved for dirt cheap
paid 250 for rubicon wheels, 100 for a rubicon bumper got the free rubber from my 4runner
paid 12 bux for the cheap china made gas cover, 33 for the tow hook 80 for the running boards)
got all my money back then some when I sold my old black sport wheels

Only you as the owner has to like it.
It's not my thing. But if you like it it's all good.
