2018 JLU Sahara w/8.4 UConnect, Proximity Sensors & Halogen package (replaced with aftermarket LED's).

My JL has 23,000 miles on it. This past weekend, the backup camera randomly quick working. The screen was black but apparently the Unit didn't report an error and it still had the "Check entire surroundings" warning at the top of the screen.

I thought maybe someone had put tape over it trying to be funny, but checked and it was all good. I drove all over the place, went shopping, got in and out of the Jeep, turned it off and on, etc., still no change.

The next day, it was working again perfectly and hasn't had any issues since...
Any ideas what might have caused it and what I should check?

This is very common. You just need to gain access to the camera connector and clean it and make sure the pink connector is seated all the way.

Just got a 2021 Sahara about a month ago and had this happen for the first time a couple days ago. After 2-3 trips, it started working again. I guess I'll have to take it in for service if it continues..

I unplugged the camera while I was installing my rear bumper, and I got a blue screen.

Check the connections at the camera, also check the connections inside the tailgate.

Mine did the same thing for 2 subsequent start/stop cycles. The third startup I powered on the radio and let it run its normal process, then the camera functioned and has since.

3 or 4 times since new in March.

there‘s almost no point in taking it to the dealer unless you do it right when it’s happening. If it clears up the next morning and you take it in, they’ll just say “could not duplicate”.

Every wrangler has/will have intermittent issue with it.
Chanses are by the time you get to dealer, it will work normal.

My camera has been doing the same blue and black screens for a year now. Dealer is telling me because of the fact I have an after market tire carrier that has a different bracket that holds the camera, the camera is not going be under warranty. This problem started before the bumper/ carrier was put on. I'm getting pretty frustrated with this jeep experience

Happened the first night of ownership for me... hasn’t happened again luckily.

For me it happened when i was showing off the “remote start” feature... the camera seemed to bug out
