If this is a warranty repair, the repair will be done with OEM glass. The dealer can do the repair in house or the dealer can sublet to a local shop. Either way you need to start at the dealer for the determination of warranty.

If the repair is not warranty, such as damage by a Squach (they are rare in San Diego), then you can handle the repair however you choose. But either way, I would use OEM glass.

That’s odd. I always assumed that the side glass was tempered. Tempered glass doesn’t crack like that.
Normal temperature change isn't going to crack your glass. Once there is a crack, then it can.
I didn't think a side window would crack - I thought they were tempered glass and if something happened they would just shatter.
It's completely odd... I've never seen anything like it. I have looked thru the forums and seen other windows that are blown out, but a crack is strange. Especially on tempered glass

Agree, out West there are places that have a 50 Deg temperature swing every day.

It's San Diego, so we don't get those crazy temperature fluctuations like the high desert. It was only about a 20 degree swing, although the big thing is the speed in which the temperature changes. I'd have to look back on the weather data to see if that was the case last night

Yeah, I’ll just have to trust you on that one, I couldn’t even afford to own a home constructed of cardboard boxes in San Diego.

This may be a simple stupid explanation, but is it possible that something hit it from the outside while parked over night? Random ball from the neighbors, stray bird, falling branch, etc?

No roof rack or other mods on the hardtop... The only thing close is a hardshell locking tire cover which weighs next to nothing, so I don't think weight would be the cause. I'll have to check the bolts, I honestly haven't touched them since I've never removed the hardtop.
If the glass guy/gal at the factory was on break and the fuse guy was covering, then, yeah, definitely check those bolts!

It cracked from the inside out. You can feel it when you rub your finger against it
