Hello, the wife and I just got back from camping at Thomas Mountain Campsites here in SoCal over the weekend. First time camping in the Jeep! Already got her in the snow a few times and now she’s hitting the trails. I promised my wife she wouldn’t be a mall crawler!

We are camping up the coast of CA through OR for 10 days for spring break. I searched the forums for advice and found some options. I have the Mopar roof racks that I use for our snowboards and I’m looking for an awning that can attach to those racks. I plan to have a cargo carrier up to as well if that matters.

This weekend showed me that if we’re not spending more than one night at each stop, I don’t want to setup the full time awning at base camp. I’d like to keep setup as simple as possible.

Any suggestions would be great :) I was thinking something like this: https://www.quadratec.com/p/rhino-rack/batwing-compact-awning-pioneer-racks

I've installed a couple Bat Wings to Pioneer Platforms and they work pretty good. Haven't tried them on the Mopar rack.

Attached the Bat Wing instructions if you want to see how they are attached.

We've got 'em in stock: https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/awnings-accessories/33100-rhino-rack-batwing-awning-left-side
I wish you guys had some of the awnings the member posted above those seem to be out of stock everywhere. It seems nice to not have to use the legs especially at this price point.

We hear you....Right now many of the manufacturers seem to be scrambling to keep up with demand.

That company is actually a local company. I picked up a unit at their warehouse. It is a slightly smaller one but it’s still a 270 unit.

Update: This is one I bought and picked up locally. Hopefully can install it tomorrow and post some photos.

I just realized that reading through the thread below, the idea of running this awning + a carbo box with gear on the Mopar roof racks is probably a bad idea... Man this sucks :( This Jeep thing knows how to suck my money....

Update: Looks like one of the options below just may be light enough. Does anyone have an opinion on the following items.

1. Mopar Roof Racks
2 OVS 270 Awning 50lbs
3. Thule Cargo Box 16lbs or 32lbs
4. Gear in Cargo Box : 50-75lbs

was it easily attached to the roof bars? Did you have to make any modifications to the mopar bars to mount the awning?

No sir I don’t use it anymore because I have a different set up but it was pretty straightforward.

Look how far you came in a short time!

I love your no compromise attitude.
Yes sir I am thankful for this forum and YouTube. I have learned so much in the last year... Jeeping/Camping/Exploring is now up there with Snowboarding and Moutainbiking for me :)
