The trend seems to be LED upgrading, but i didnt want the potential flickering, or overheating problems, along with the dispersed lighting and high cost.
So, i decided to just do a simple Halogen Upgrade. I went with Philips 9008 H13 +100 bulbs. It was a very simple replacement. When night came, i pointed the Jeep down the street. My lights actually light up the street, the way they should have, from the factory. Much brighter, and the light reaches out farther. Very very happy now. The best part was that it cost less than $30. I looked around later, and found you could get them chealer, but i went with a reputable seller, i trusted.

Now that you've had these for a while how are they working out? Any problems with the bulbs drawing too much power or is everything operating as it should be? Would you buy them again? Are they still brighter than OEM?

Thanks

They still work well. But, after 4 years they have dimmed a little. They are still much brighter than the OEM Halogens.
When they dim more, I will upgrade to some Beamtech LED's. These new LED bulbs have come a long way, from what I've read. Plus, they are only $43.

Anyone tried a straight LED bulb replacement like this? Seems simple and almost as inexpensive, but again the question of how long they last.

I helped my son install some Amazon LED's (it's super easy) in his Jeep Patriot, he loves them. The factory housing keeps the light where it belongs too. No idea on the longevity but LED's should certainly last longer than the old halogens.

I have two vehicles now, that I've installed the Philips Halogens in. They both have much much brighter light output than the OEM halogens, and they have served me well, for 4+ years. They still work well. But, as with all Halogen bulbs, they dim over time. They haven't come close to being dim enough to annoy me into replacing them yet, but within the year, I probably will.

Those Beamtechs are 6500k. That will put the color on the blue side and creates issues with washing out whites that you need to see at night. 6500k might also get you a traffic stop.

Try to find a 5500k bulb, the color will be a nice, crisp white and will be better for you and everyone else on the road.

Some people still like those blue headlights though. I guess because all the high end cars 20 years ago had HID headlights that gave of a weird blue color at certain angles.

If it's an H13, it should fit. If it doesn't, just return them. Getting to the bulbs is an easy quick job.

Consider these. Couldn't be happier with them after 8 months. Usually a 10% coupon. When I bought mine the coupon on my account lowered them to $25.60

No flashing or errors and no fan to fail. Night and day different from my stock halogens.

From the feedback, on those that have bought them, they say it is a very White Light. 6500k is the top end of the white spectrum, and any higher it can start turning a blue. The closer to 7000k, the bluer it becomes. So 6500k might be the limit, for very white lights.

Well, its been over 5 years, and one of the Philips +100 bulbs burned out. They have performed great, without dimming. So, I replaced them with the same. I was able to find a pair on Amazon, for $15.

Currently running the same, plus amber LED fog lights adding to the low beam, and amber LED driving lights on the bumper adding to the high beam. Good combination. The halogens have a nice color temperature and melt snow/ice. The amber LEDs blend in well and add more light off to the sides to help see deer. The driving lights also add above/below which is like fog lights for the high beams plus help when going up/down short hills.

BTW, I've also read good things about the Sylvania Silverstar H13 bulbs. Maybe I'll try them on one of my other vehicles when they need replacing.
