I'm not an electrical engineer, but does he make a mistake in this video when he says the Aux battery isn't connected to alternator when that switch is open? It seems to me that the Aux battery is always connected to the alternator, and that it's the main battery that is either connected or disconnected via that switch.

I don't believe so since the BSG is powered by a 48 volt battery pack, and the starting battery is still a 12 volt battery.

I really don't understand why Jeep would have designed it this way. Just means more things can go wrong. They should have designed it so that either battery could start the car if it was dead. That would have been bullet-proof.

I'm beginning to suspect that the jump start procedure in the owner's manual might be wrong/outdated too.

Forum member, @brandonh (Jeep Informant) is a dealer tech and has access to plenty of lets call them test mules to test with ....and info. Reach out to him and ask him to look into this and do a video.
