I have noticed on my new JL 3.6L Rubicon that sometimes transmission shifts very late. RPM can go up to 4K to 4.2K before it upshifts. I have noticed that mostly around 35-50 mph speed. And it occasionally does that.
I can understand if it is happening on incline but noticed that on flat surface too.
Is it normal?

I am used to the JL 2.0L where I did not see the issue as the turbo kicked in pretty quickly.

Mine hangs in 5th occasionally, but it has gotten better the more I drive it on the highway.
Thanks for the reply.
Yesterday I tested the behavior on a 15 mile drive on the highway. I adjusted the setting to display the current gear also.
If I briefly release the foot, it up shifts faster than if I am pressing the gas pedal. I am guessing this is normal behavior to provide acceleration by downshifting to a lower gear, hence the higher RPM.
Mine hangs a little longer than it should on 7th gear before moving to the 8th. And my frame of reference is my other vehicle - Grand Cherokee which gets to gear 8 pretty fast. But I am guessing the 8 speed on the Grand Cherokee is either a different transmission or the ECU settings are deliberately different.
