Personally, I think the "auto" climate is broke. It does work well, as you indicate in high temps, and I'm OK with it in low temps as well, but it seems that there's no middle ground for dealing with weather from 60-70's outside. It's either too slow to respond, to fast, and too cold when it does. This is poor programming, or a poorly (more than one?) placed sensor or both. None of my BMW's suffered from this kind of stuff. I actually just keep the system off when it's in the 60's and 70's, otherwise, I have to fidget with it too much.
Yes, it seems if the set temp and the outside temp are very close, it really goes all wonky.

Interesting, because my wife has a Challenger, and her's works just fine. She sets it at 72 and it stays there. if the cabin gets to 72, it turns the blower off until it needs to adjust a little again.

In my Jeep, if it reaches temp it switches to heat, then back to A/C, and just back and forth. So I just run on LO and manually adjust the fan as needed.

It was 70 outside and had inside temp set for 71. It was raining and I turned the defroster on. Driver's side was putting out 2000 degree heat, passenger side was on AC and 60. I was waiting for the windshield to crack. The system really is a piece of junk. I would have been happy if it worked as good as the JK..

So now I have to worry about a MF climate control? I've had those in all my cars for the past 15 + years , you set it and forget it. So now that also half-ass works in a Wrangler?

What else is wrong with JL? I've never read about so many headaches and such trivial shit that doesn't work on JL

It's like my buddy said welcome to American Cars I guess
You must not read much about first model year cars.

Well, it's not like the AC systems in FCA vehicles are something new to them. I suspect that this likely a result of a poorly place sensor or even some programming. Although getting FCA to address the issue is another matter altogether.

My temp is not the issue with mine. When in auto, blows out the dash and at the feet. My feel are always cold. Only way to limit it to the dash is select dash and disengage auto.
Is there actually a recall? I just hit 1K miles on the odometer of my JLUR and heat / cold has been super weird.

I'll have A/C engaged, be at 68 or 69 degrees and blowing hot air. Will then go to Max A/C, will be super cold then go back to say 69 or 69 and feels cooler. No idea what's going on...
Hi dpowell5523 and jeepmikey,
We are sorry to hear that you are both experiencing A/C concerns. If you decide to work with your dealerships to have this addressed, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to offer an additional layer of assistance to this process!

Not sure but climate control in all my past vehicles seems to work best when really cold or really warm. Driving to work before sunrise in sunrider mode at 63 degrees does not work well. I want warmer heat due to the top being open but climate control thinks otherwise. 63 degrees with humidity and the top closed, I want something cooler.

Some days I have to put mine on 70, some days 74, some days 72, some days 76 just to stay comfortable...and this is with the exterior ambient temperature the same! Completely defeats the purpose of "automatic climate control" if you ask me.

Yeah similar for me. And that includes the temperature of the heated seats and steering wheel too. Itā€™s not like it doesnā€™t work, more like you have to figure it out each time like the first time you drove the Jeep.
Well, Sonny....Back in the day we had to make our own heat! No auto temp controls. No blowers. Just some dry kindling and a little gasoline for a cold Minnesota morning.

2021 Sahara doing same thing. On Auto its blowing cold air, 56 outside and set for 73 inside with sync. Then then fan almost stops blowing. On manual it will cook bbq wings on the vents. Just traded a 2018 JL, so I'm familiar how it works and how it should work. Below the steering wheel is a small vent that analyses air temp on each side. Think the Passenger is in glove box. Ugh, have an appt at dealer. Next week! Few hundred miles and its back to UBER! Will Keep you guys informed. They did take a quick peek at it and no Codes.. Didn't even get the First Payment yet!!! I could Bawl, in PA and its getting chippy at night already!

The dealer will tell you thatā€™s how it is supposed to work.

After one year owning my JL, I ended adjusting my internal body temperature. This is easier than getting FCA to fix anything.

Let us know how it all works out.

Good luck.

I haven't noticed a problem, on cold days I normally up the temp to 80 on cold days to get it going then back down to 70-75 after about 5ish mins after start up, then adjust it down even further within 10 mins. Just this morning, it was 30ish out and from a cold start, it was warmed up and I shut it off completely after about 10 mins. I feel it works the same if not better than the auto control on my previous 13' Silverado and way better than my wife's Equinox.

My Hint: Watch the external temp display. I have noticed that the display will show the temp from the last run (usually the previous day when it was warm out) and it won't update for a few minutes after startup.

This sucks because it will run the AC instead of the heat until it finally updates. I have brought myself to just switching off the HVAC on a cold morning startup until I am down the road and see that the temperature display is correct before I turn it back on.

I just use manual controls... Iā€™ve never been a fan of auto climate. If itā€™s cold I put the temp to HI and have it vent from the feet area and onto the windshield. Then once Iā€™m warm I lower the fan speed. If I get too warm I turn it off. Easy peasy.
