Well, it was my lucky day.. well lucky to be unlucky. It has been warm here in NC, so the problem hasn't happened that often. Before they replaced my AMP, once it started doing it, it kept doing it. After the Amp replacement, it would do it and then stop, without pulling the fuse. Today I was taking the jeep in so the dealer could open a STAR case. Sure enough, when I started the Jeep, no backup lines and the radio started cutting out. I drove to the dealer, didn't turn the car off, and told the dealership I left it running and don't turn it off, since it has been an intermittent problem. So hopefully they listened. Last time I dropped it off, it was having the problem, but they couldn't get a tech to look at it until the next day. I left it there, and sure enough, it was 49 the next morning, and "vehicle is working as it should, no problem experienced" Even though the Service Rep witnessed it the day before.

Any guesses what they are doing next? Yup.. New radio on order.... BUT, a star case is open, so that is at least something.

Audio cut out issue occurred today. Tried the Tazer 'full reboot' feature which did appear to correct the issue for my drive home. I was impatient and started the vehicle before the reboot cycle completed which pissed off the ESS system. It shut off at the next light and wouldn't auto turn back on. No biggie, just had to move quick to 'park' and restart the jeep. Then had a ESS warning/failure light the rest of the way home. Don't be like me and wait. At least Tazer reboot is an option!

This past weekend I just experienced the exact same thing. Was cutting out the audio like every 3-4 seconds. Thought i was Sattelite so I changed to Radio. still did it. changed to USB still did it. shut radio off and back on still did it. Not sure what the Temp was outside but I know it was no where near as cold as it has been and radio worked fine then.

Hi everyone. Not a Jeep Owner here but a 2019 Ram 1500 owner. Hope you don't mind me joining you. Many Ram owners are experiencing the exact same issues you guys are, myself included.
https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...t-pauses-in-audio-for-all-sources.3822/page-9

It's typically with the 8.4 or 12.1 Uconnect radios with NAV. Audio pauses every 3 seconds, all sources except hands free calling. No directional lines on the backup camera when it happens. It doesn't happen in ACC mode. When I put it in reverse to back out of my driveway and don't see the lines on the backup camera I know I'm screwed. Happens more frequently in temps between 22-35F, often in wet conditions

I took my truck to the dealer and they had it for 5 weeks, a STAR case was opened. They finally told me it was fixed, but it they lied. In fact its been happening more often as of late, possibly due to the weather (Michigan). Pretty much on a daily basis now. Some people on the Ram forum got new radios installed and it didn't fix the problem.

I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I spent $54,000 on a truck and am unable to listen to the radio at least 30 percent of the time. FCA has known about this issue for at least 4 months now and still no fix. Is it a hardware issue and they don't want to replace thousands of radios? Or is it a software issue and they just too dumb to figure it out? Either way its completely unacceptable to not be able to listen to the radio on a daily basis. I'm considering filing for lemon law or maybe we can all do a class action lawsuit.

Just wanted to share with you guys this is a widespread problem with the Uconnect radios and something needs to be done. FCA needs to get their shit together immediately!

Given that this is by now, a well documented problem that FCA is failing to properly address or even acknowledge, I think it definitely warrants a class action. Anyone here know of any good law firms which have a proven track record for major actions like this?

I still think it's a hardware issue. I don't know any software glitch that prevents a radio from working in cold temps (or temp variations.. could be humidity levels). I've been waiting for a new radio for weeks now, it keeps getting pushed back because apparently it is a 'new' radio, they were going to install a similar radio to the one I already have have weeks ago, but then it was flagged, returned, and now waiting for one of the 'new' ones. It is supposed to have new hardware that apparently won't fail like the original ones. I believe they are aware that replacing the same type of radio will have the same exact issues. This just may be a stall tactic, and I may be getting fooled, who knows, but if this is correct, a lot of new hardware will be getting installed in the coming months.
I'll keep you guys posted .. but as of now the ETA of my 'new' radio is Feb 25th.

Could be hardware for sure... But feels like it came with a software update? I didn't have my jeep until July '18 and wasn't looking for this issue but I was reading the forum and I don't recall seeing posts/complaints last winter about this issue? It seems like it first started for most people late last summer? Even 1st post for this thread is Oct 2018. That's my only thought as to why its a software issue or possibly a hardware issue for late 2018 builds? Or do I have my timelines completely wrong for others who have had a JL longer?

Sorry to tell you, you’re a bit late to the party :)

That link you posted is the thread I created back in October 2018. At the very top of the OP I linked this thread and the other related thread from this forum in my OP, as well posted the link from this forum to the RAM forum.

This issue is very well documented, but no official response from FCA. We have members in both RAM and Jeep camps getting software updates, replacement radios, amps, cameras, wiring, etc but no resolution.

Alex,

Jeep Wave has been involved, but I have not gotten any response from my rep in about 3 days, even though I emailed her the status of things. There is a large body of people that is having the problem, but no one at Jeep seem to openly admit anything. On top of the radio, I am now having Cluster issues. The mechanical speedometer can be anywhere from spot on correct to almost 10 mph higher than the digital displayed speed. But of course is is intermittent, and even though I have video of the issue, the tech will most likely not be able to reproduce.. so it will be marked " working as designed"

Ricboy, good job for you that you created the other thread. I'm just trying to get the word out that this is a more widespread issue than just one FCA brand. This is a problem that's affecting thousands of Uconnect radios and has been going on for way too long. I thought mine was the only one until about 3 weeks ago when I started scouring the internet about it. I want people to know just how widespread this problem is so we can get a class action lawsuit going because I'm seriously angry.

I am very frustrated also... When it happens, i ian feel my blood pressure sky rocket... My kids ask me to just shut the radio off because it drives them nuts also. @JeepCares, We are making great family memories, too bad there not the kind my family wants to remember.

I am on board with joining a class action if this doesn't get resolved soon or at least acknowledge by FCA that there is a problem and they are working on it.
