Updating this thread from information on the 5thGenRAM forum:

https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...-audio-for-all-sources.3822/page-4#post-82654

TSB 08-003-19, which was released on January 12 2019, addresses numerous issues, including audio cutting in/out and rear backup camera lines disappearing. This will be addressed in a uConnect update which will be pushed to systems via OTA, or via USB to those systems without the built-in modem.

No other information available at this time - but if someone is willing to dig further with that TSB number, please do so.
Hi all,

I would like to clarify that the TSB listed does NOT apply to the Jeep Wrangler, nor the 8.4 inch connected radios. This issue of audio cutting in/out with JLs is still being investigated. Your patience is appreciated.

Hi Darlene @JeepCares

Would you be able to post the complete bulletin? I am a 2019 RAM 1500 owner, and this is affecting us as well. There are numerous owners who need the bulletin so they can schedule the repair with their service centre.

Thanks

Yes a lot of folks are saying they got the radio replaced only to find it started cutting in and out again.

850 miles and my Sahara radio cuts off and back on and now has a volume problem.
We're sorry to hear that this is happening in your Jeep. Please send us a private message so that we can document this on your behalf.

Hi RIC3BOY,

Please send me a private message, and I will send you the necessary information for assistance. I prefer not to post it in here, as I do not want to create any confusion for JL owners checking out the thread.

Hi Gene,

As previously mentioned, our internal teams are still working towards a resolution for this concern. At this time, you can send us a private message with your VIN so that we have documentation that you are experiencing the audio cutting in/out.

Hi Darlene @JeepCares

To say this has been frustrating is an understatement. I would like to make sure that the group that is working on the fix has all the relevant information to fix it.

1. Radio starts to glitch when outside temp drops below 36 - 38 degrees. If the temp stays cold long enough the glitch does not return until the temps go back up and then drop again.

2. When the glitch starts - Backup lines disappear in the rear view camera preview.

3. Pulling Fuse 97 brings system back to normal.

4. Making a phone call is not affected. It works perfect even if system is glitching. Calling Uconnect by pushing the Assist button also works perfectly. (If this works perfectly should it be assumed that the amplifier has nothing to do with it?)

5. If engine is on but not running system works perfectly.... Once you start it up it will glitch again.

Can someone explain how changing the amplifier will make a difference? I have been waiting for one since Dec 27th and still has not arrived to my dealer. I am working with someone at Jeep Cares currently but this issue has been happening since October!

The issue is fixed with a simple reboot.. Something that Uconnect forgot to give us in this version of the radio. I have had Jeeps for years and rebooting the radio was never an issue... You held down two buttons on the radio and it rebooted... Pulling a fuse every single morning is becoming crazy...

This group here is all experiencing the same problems... How can it be fixed on other models experiencing the exact same problem and not be able to be pinpointed down to the Wranglers?

I did not spend $60k on a truck that is actually scared of the cold weather.

I just thought to search here for this issue today. This has happened to me 4 times. I recorded video of it last time.

One time, the entire display went black -- no sound and could not turn it on no matter what. Restarting the car did not solve. A few hours later, it worked.

The other three times, I start the car and there is a display but no sound. Turning volume up and down doesn't change anything. Turn the sound system off/on, doesn't change it. Restart car doesn't change it. A few hours later and it works.

I did think, like others, that it was the cold. I'm in Chicago and each time, it has been an extreme cold snap. And when it works again after a few hours, it's warmed up (either the Jeep, from driving it for a while, or the temps, not being early in the morning, etc).

I've also had the issue where when I get home and turn the car off and open the door, the sound system continues to play. Restarting the car did not work, still continued to have sound even after opening the door. Had to lock the doors to get it to stop.

Would love to get on record as being affected by this. Very frustrating.

Thanks for this.

To add to #5
In ACC mode the issue does not occur, once I switch to RUN it will occur when it is occurring.

I messaged you guys my VIN in October.

I got my radio replaced today. Unfortunately the mopar screen protector I had on it didnā€™t get replaced...good thing the package comes with two!

Crossing my fingers but I am honestly not hopeful. I parked in the garage tonight but I kinda wanna leave it outside...someone at the dealer mentioned the newer radio having a different hard drive or somtbing. Anyone heard about this?

Eugene,

Can you take pictures of the system screen? Lets see if you are on the same software and hardware builds.

I just got a call from my case manager and there is a new TSB out with the fix! I will post it tomorrow...

Had it happen again today. I took a video again. No audio even though display was on. I tried calling my son to see if I could hear him and nothing, although he could hear me. Then, I switched from FM to Sirius, no change. Then hit AM, and boom -- it came back on. Then, all dials worked. Could it be an antenna issue?

I've tried switching between AM, FM, Sirius, connect & disconnect CarPlay in every combination but it doesn't seem to fix the audio issue when it's occurring. I've even tried turning the JL off, locking the doors, and restarting it a minute later and the audio issue is still present. Then it will disappear for days or a week.

Well guys - my whole "Bluetooth" hypothesis went out the drain today... went almost 2 weeks without and issue but it came back the other day... so I will go back to pairing my iPhone.

That is great news about the potential upcoming TSB.. this has been extremely frustrating to say the least.

@eugene How is the new radio working out sir?

@RIC3BOY Were you able to get the TSB for your Ram? Do things seem to be working now?

The TSB that I posted, like the previous TSB from November, only applies to RAM trucks without the built in modem. That previous TSB also addressed the audio cutting in/out, so it looks like FCA knew about this issue since then. Weā€™re just waiting for an update via OTA.

Ok, so I drove to maine this weekend, and temps were below zero. Didn't have the cutting in and out issue. However, I tried to make a call on my way home and USB2 cut off CarPlay but all I had to do was unplug my phone and plug it back in, Usually the USB won't work for the entire ride.

Crossing my fingers guys.

Charlie,
I wish I did that before and after I got the new radio. I didn't even think of doing that. This is also good to do so I can identify what software I am on and to monitor updates to the UCONNECT because apparently they can happen when I am not in the car and without telling me! I really don't like how I get forced to update like that.
