I was having strange audio behavior in my 8.4. I pulled my fuses (F97 and F102) to reboot the Uconnect. No more issues in the 3 months since. Uconnect is a computer with software. Hardware eventually fails and software eventually works....maybe.
@BlueCruzer

FYI: Months ago I was posting pull F97 and F102. I subsequently, over time, found out, you just need to pull F97 to reboot UConnect.

Well, here in Chicago the temps are getting colder, the leaves are beginning to drop, and like clockwork my radio is again cutting in and out for the thousandth time since I purchased the Jeep. I called my dealer to book an appointment to have the backup camera changed and the service technician was completely clueless about the issue. ā€œIā€™ve never heard of this problem.ā€ Great. Iā€™ve spoken to Jeep Careā€™s before, has cases opened previously, absolutely none of which was helpful.

Can someone from Jeep Cares help me pave the way to getting this finally resolved without total frustration at my dealer? Iā€™ve been dealing with this now for almost three years. Geez.

Is it Satellite radio or FM, or all of it?

AM, FM, and Satellite. Magically disappears once it gets warm and restarts in Fall. When the audio glitches, it's always accompanied by the lines disappearing on the backup camera. Beyond frustrating.

A bit of an update. Today I took my '18 JLU to my local dealer for what I hoped would be a backup camera replacement. A huge thanks to Diane and Kathryn of Jeep Cares who paved the way with the proper info about the fix to show my dealer. My Jeep dealer service rep took a look at the materials and went to work on my Jeep right away. Huge relief and the replacement was completed in about an hour.

I'll report back as temps drop and hopefully the issue is finally resolved. Again, thanks to Jeep Cares and my dealer (Fields Jeep in Glenview, IL) for making this easy.

It's been 9 days since the backup camera was replaced, and a total of zero audio incidents so far. None.

This happened to me the other day. I realized that the Maps app was giving me directions but the phone volume was very low so it just sounded like the stereo was cutting out.. Doh.

This morning I got into my JL after remote starting it ( Iā€™ve done this before) and I get in and the audio is on SXM and cutting in and out. I thought maybe it had something to do with SXM so I plugged in my phone and started Spotify to play a song. Same thing, about every 4-5 seconds the audio pauses for .5 seconds then comes back. Very frustrating, only 550 miles and 13 days of ownership.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix it?

My audio went out last week but everything else,- display, camera etc still worked fine. Switching to AM did no good. No sound from any station or bluetooth but I would hear pops and static from the speakers on startup.
Took it in today and dealer said the radio needs to be replaced and there's currently a 3-4 week wait on the part( uconnect 5") After reading through this thread I hope I don't end up with a refurbished part.

Your situation sounds different from the ā€intermittent cutting in and outā€ issue that has affected many of us. I hope you can get your radio fixed soon.

Since my backup camera was replaced itā€™s been over a month with no recurrence of the issue.

As an update on my cutting in and out experience, since replacing the back up camera last Jan 3, Iā€™ve had no issues since. Fingers crossed.

I have the 8.4" Infotainment.

My radio had been having problems since they did the last update at my last oil change. I do not know if it is a coincidence or not? It has been rebooting for months since that update. The XM radio will intermittently cut in and out. The phone volume is low sometimes too. I also get the blue screen and no back-up camera sometimes. The Uconnect functions also lock up sometimes. No volume adjustment, can't turn off the unit, nothing. The alert for FAVORITES keeps beeping and alerting me I have favorites on my XM channels when I do not. I was trying to wait until my next oil change to take it in to the dealer but my problem got more serious a few days ago. The radio locked up and would not turn off. None of the controls worked on the radio screen. None of the volume or power knobs worked either. Nothing on the screen worked. It even locked the time on the clock and the channel and artist on the XM screen. It would not turn off even if I turned off the ignition and locked the doors. The radio stayed on all the time. I was worried it would have drained the battery. I finally had to pull the yellow 20Amp (F97) fuse for the radio to get it to turn off.

I have about a dozen videos I was able to take of the rebooting, BLUE screen, screen locks ups, etc. I am taking it into the dealer next week before I get stranded somewhere from the radio locking back up and staying ON. Hopefully the dealer takes all my videos as proof and orders a new radio or whatever they need.

I am going to Fields for Radio problems next week. What did they do to fix your radio?

Viper, Fields replaced the backup camera almost 3 months ago, and I've had zero issues since the replacement. My issue was a bit different from yours, my audio system would cut in and out every few seconds, and when the issue arose the backup camera lines would disappear.

The issue would come and go every few days, particularly (but not always) on colder days. I drove into the Fields service department on a day when the issue was happening, and the service rep recorded video of the situation on his phone and added it to my file. They asked me to let them do some research and called me back a few days later saying they have no idea how to fix the issue. Months later other owners were finding success with the backup camera replacement, and Jeep Cares offered to contact my dealer to pave the way for replacement.

The process went very smoothly once the possible solution was identified. I know others have tried replacing the entire Audio/Nav unit, which must be very expensive and time consuming for Jeep, whereas the backup camera fix is a lot quicker, cheaper, and actually WORKS!

Best of luck on your repair.

Viper, do you know if they also replaced the wiring harness for the camera as well? My dealer did everything, but replace the camera and I continue to have this issue as I head in month 35, so with 1 month on my warranty, got nervous and I purchased a replacement camera for a 2020 Wrangler to replace myself, but Iā€™m concerned the harness should also be replaced. Thanks for your post.
