Well, bad news. It has been a week. Started the Jeep this morning, put it in reverse... and drum roll please. NO BACKUP LINES. Pull out of the garage, and i know it is hard to believe, the radio is cutting out. This is with the new super duper, 'alternate' part radio. At the dealer now. They say they are going to open a new Star case back up. I will keep you guys posted.

EDIT***
They have given me a loaner, the car is parked in the back behind the dealer. They said they have to get FCA engineers back involved to see what they want to do. to recap, they have replaced the Amp, they have installed the "NEW" radio that was a new part number, and was supposed to resolve issue. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. I did call and email Jeep Wave this morning to let them know the issue has returned. I got a bounce back email stating my old case had been closed already. So now I get to go through the fun all over.
That sucks! I guess mine will start malfunctioning again soon. It's been fine since the new radio install, but the weather has been better here so I'm sure that's why it's working.
I know in the other audio thread they are starting to replace backup cameras. Is that the direction we need to go? Or are we pretty much waiting for this supposed software update in April....

Well,

they have had my jeep for two days. They called me and said it was ready. What does ready mean you ask??? It means FCA engineers told the dealer there are still problems with the radio and they can't figure it out. They had the dealer disconnect my backup camera and they want me to drive it around for a week and see if the problem happens again. Great plan for an intermittent problem..... Lets reduce safety....

For the record, after working last afternoon, my audio cut out and backup lines vanished this morning as well. The AM button fixed the audio. As others here reported, it has nothing to do with low temperature since my garage doesn't get colder than high 50's. The issues didn't appear more frequently than once a month or so even with the Jeep parked on the street in freezing weather overnight on some weekends.

Well, Its really disappointing (but not surprising) to hear cmarchel got the new radio and it still hasn't resolved the issue. I have a 2019 Ram with the same issues you guys are experiencing, (same radio). I've been dealing with it for 4 months now. I've taken the truck to the dealer multiple times, had the star case opened, all for nothing because apparently they're not smart enough to fix it. The first thing I do when I start the truck is put it in reverse to check if there's lines on the backup camera. No lines, no radio.

AnebuR, I disagree that temperature has nothing to do with it. It definitely happens more frequently in temps between 25-35F. I've had it happen outside that range but its definitely more frequent within that range and this has been reported in the Ram forums as well.

Its completely ridiculous that FCA has known about this for at least 5 months now and still no fix. There definitely needs to be a class action lawsuit started because this is completely unacceptable. I'm tired of driving around in silence 30 percent of the time! Anyone know a good lawfirm?

WOW, just WOW is all I can say. First, the new Jeep Wave agent called me today. She called me two days ago, I called and left a message for her, and she called back and told me she never got my message. She then stated that FCA has a software fix coming for the problem. I had asked her when? She stated she didn't know, and that the dealer would know, since it would be a TSB, not her. She stated the dealer will call me when the update is available. I asked her for a ballpark figure, she told me she had no idea.... Strike one with the new case agent... . Since she had NO information, the was about to hang up and asked if there was anything else she could do for me.. I told her yes, I mentioned the problem with the speedo and Tach being off, and it was intermittent and I did not how to reproduce the issue. I stated I had video of the problem but the dealer needed to be able to reproduce it to do anything about it. She told me that was correct, she could not do anything and to wait to have it happen and try and get it to the dealer. STrike two. So basically , she called to tell me she could do nothing and was doing nothing.

@JeepCares -- Britney is my new agent and doesn't seem to care one bit about my issues or helping me. with my original case, Carlotta worked to help me and take care of me as a customer. I am part of a growing group that has spent a lot of money on my Jeep and is having all kinds of issues. I am also part of a growing group that is considering using the lemon law to get rid of this lemon and taking my business to another company that can fix problems when it happens and cares about its customer. I am a very unhappy customer and I am very unhappy by how my Jeep Wave agent is handling the issue.

Maybe whether temperatures makes a difference varies vehicle to vehicle. Had no guidelines when backing out of my garage this morning as well, even though this time, the audio worked fine.

If there are people on the RAM forums also experiencing this, we should all combine on a class action because it's the same malfunctioning radio that FCA is knowingly putting into our vehicles without even publicly acknowledging that there's a known problem nor offering some compensation or plan to remedy this.

Wow, this is getting better and better. So as I stated in a post last week, per my star case, the dealership has unplugged my backup camera to see if the problems still exists. They mentioned they wanted to do it for about a week. It has been a week, the problem hasn't happened again, but it has also been very warm, in my case, it happens more around the 30 degree range. I called my dealer and told them it hasn't happened again, and that Jeep WAVE has stated a new software fix is coming at non-defined time that is supposed to fix the problem and I would like my camera plugged back in for safety reasons. My dealership said they can't do anything until the FCA engineers tell them to plug it back in or to do other work to it. I stated that it is a safety hazard and requesting they plug it back in. I was told that Jeep WAVE or the FCA engineer on the STAR case would have to tell them to do it.

@JeepCares - I sent you a message last week, with no response from you, that I am very unsatisfied with the new case agent. She basically told me they are working on a fix, doesn't know when it will be fixed, and that is it. She hasn't even sent me contact information yet. I had to look up the number from my old case, contact the first available agent, explain the situation. They said they would pass the information on to Britney to contact me. unacceptable! In no other industry would the response be... 'yes, we think we have a fix, but can't tell you when you will get it."

Wow that’s crazy! I’m going back to the dealer Thursday to drop my car off for a potential fix. I hope I don’t have my backup camera turned off. I use it everyday when I back out my my garage. (Which I have to use to reduce the frequency of the audio cutting in and out between resets, or at least I think it does)

I have two new issues, my back window defrost stopped working ( one of the wires disconnected at the soldering point) and today my Uconnect would not turn off even with the doors locked and power off, I could turn off the screen but the music would continue, also when turning the volum button up and down the volum would not change. I started and stopped the Jeep many times and finally it stopped.

all the issues I have to date:

Ucunnect radio cuts in and out with backup lines disappearing ( no resulution after replacing uconnect and update)

Had to replace 2 wire holders for the back window as the kept popping out

Rear defrost stopped working due to bad soldering ( waiting for path forward from dealership)

Recall on welding for something to due with steering

Radio will not turn off and volum controll will not work ( new and will be bringing in to the dealership)

I have owned 2 jk jeeps and one grand cherokee, I consider myself a Jeep guy but all of this is turning me away from this brand,

You can find a lot of these issues in this forum site

Hello All,
So here is the skinny. My camera has been unhooked for a week, no problems. I called my dealer, and asked them to hook it back up. My rep told me they cannot do anything until the engineers on the STAR case tell them too. Originally, the dealer told me they wanted to disconnect the camera for 3 days to a week. I called and left a message for my Wave agent, no call back. first Agent was great, this one, isn't worth the dime I spent on the phone call, she has done absolutely nothing for me, and believe me, she knows my opinion of the work she has done, or not done. I take that back, she did tell me there was a unknown software fix, coming at an unknown time. That is Jeeps solution, leave their people in the dark. I thought Jeep Wave representatives were supposed to help us work with the dealers, but I guess not. I got a hold of Jeep Cares, and they told me that the engineers said to leave the camera unhooked until they get the software fix in. I was told I could work with my dealer to get it reattached, but STAR said not to, even though it is a safety issue. I guess Jeep accepts the liability if something happens.

So I popped the tailgate panel off and reattached my camera. The next morning it was fine, backlines and radio worked. Just after lunch, had to run an errand, temp was about 33. guess what, no backup lines, radio issue back. After my errands, backup lines gone, radio worked. During the evening, had to do a 1 hour trip, stopped twice. Whole trip, the radio worked, temp around 55. 1030 at night, it was 37., and the backup lines were gone and the radio was acting up.

So FCA knows it is a problem related to the camera, and they are working on software. Though they are not telling their customers an ~ time it is coming. If the software fails, it will be strike 4, and lemon law time. Or if they do not have a fix in the next couple weeks, I am taking that path. Backup camera's are mandated by federal law, and they have created a unsafe temp solution.

Has anyone noticed it happens significantly more if you use remote start?
I have been trying to pay attention to when it happens, temp and how I started the jeep. I have had it happen across most temp ranges but typically it is sub 35 when it happens the most and it happens significantly more when I use remote start vs just jumping in the jeep and starting normally.

Could just be my perspective but my experience seems always more likely to happen when I've used remote start. Could just be because it's cold out then? I almost never experience audio issues when the temps are over 35F+ and I don't usually use remote start then.
