So, two days in to the new (or maybe older version of the ) radio. I have not had any audio cutout or backup camera problems. Of course it is warmer out and mine seemed to happen only when the temps dropped to about 30. Things I have noticed. The "accept" screen sometimes takes a while to go away. Meaning sometimes it is there for 10 seconds, sometimes 30. Additionally, about a minute after starting, I get the soft chime sounds that the head unit makes when you turn off the car. has happened about 50% of the time. I am trying to see if there is a pattern to why it is doing it.

I will keep everyone informed of my experience with the "alternate" part number radio.

Why do I need to PM you my VIN? I did that FOUR MONTHS AGO!

Please respond to our concerns here. Others need to know what your doing besides giving people the run around in private chats.

This thread has over 350 posts, thousands and thousands of views and not ONE single person has reported back saying their radio was fixed. Please be transparent with us.
This!

Kinda just over this whole situation. Brand new 50k Jeep with a not functioning radio. Half the time we are driving around with a blue tooth speaker.

I'm about ready to just trade it in.

I live in Florida. Temps are usually warm while cold may make it worse it does not prevent the problem. I have had the same issues as reported above on my JL Rubicon with Alpine radio.

No audio and frozen controls. At first AM button got the audio back on. I reported this to the dealer who told me it was a software issue and until Jeep comes up with new firmware I have to live with it.
At the same dealer visit I had the Jeep in for a rattle or buzzing sound for the left front mid range speaker. Long an d short of it they put padding between the speaker enclosure and the computer module that lives back there ( bad place for a computer module). That seems to have stopped the rattle but the radio, a few days later, went completely dark. Nothing. After a couple of hours with the Jeep off it came back on as normal. That was two weeks ago. Working ok since then.
Today, 75degrees out, after a short drive and then a restart of the Jeep, the radio comes on, no audio and the backup camera does not work. I consider this to be a safety issue! I also noted that the time for any button pushed on the radio to react is very long - in the order of 5 to 10 seconds. The AM FM radio button fix no longer works. I.e.the problem is getting worse.
My career was in electronics (audio and video electronics and systems). This is clearly a software issue. Jeep should be all over this. Their best selling car with a buggy user interface and no solution after months of this being reported is unacceptable.
Jeep Cares please do let me know how to contact you direct I can provide additional information on the functions that work and freeze up.

Well, bad news. It has been a week. Started the Jeep this morning, put it in reverse... and drum roll please. NO BACKUP LINES. Pull out of the garage, and i know it is hard to believe, the radio is cutting out. This is with the new super duper, 'alternate' part radio. At the dealer now. They say they are going to open a new Star case back up. I will keep you guys posted.

EDIT***
They have given me a loaner, the car is parked in the back behind the dealer. They said they have to get FCA engineers back involved to see what they want to do. to recap, they have replaced the Amp, they have installed the "NEW" radio that was a new part number, and was supposed to resolve issue. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. I did call and email Jeep Wave this morning to let them know the issue has returned. I got a bounce back email stating my old case had been closed already. So now I get to go through the fun all over.

My lines disappeared pulling out of my garage this morning as well. The audio didn't cut out this time.

Software update. Check
New radio. Check
New auxiliary battery. Check
New amplifier. Check
HOURS in the double digits away from work. Check

Problem still exists.

NEW ISSUES:
Remote start: got into vehicle and pressed the start button. Nothing happened. Had to turn off the running/unstarted vehicle with the key fob and start it manually. Same driving session, vehicle would then NOT shut off by pressing the button. Had to shut off with the key fob.
Back up guidelines disappear while not experiencing the audio issue
Rear window on order (back order) due to rear defrost not working.
Passenger seat recline sometimes doesn't catch.

@JeepCares , I'm not sure I even want this Jeep anymore. My 12 year old Kia Sorento had fewer problems. AND IT WAS PAID FOR.

Hi Guys,

Did you know modern vehicles with stop/start also have a smart alternator controlled by the EMU via the negative rail battery sensor, the SOC of the battery is kept near to 80% to allow any regeneration, car overrun etc, the EMU also shuts off devices such as heated seats, audio, heated rear screens etc if it senses the battery is low. To force the alternator into a standard charge mode ( charging battery to around 100% instead of 80% at all times) you need to disconnect the sensor attached to the black negative lead of the starter battery (5 min job). There should be no warning lights and car will run as normal but with a fully charged battery at all times, this hack also gets rid of stop/start at the same time.

Try it and see, if not happy just reconnect sensor, my Merc`s been running with this hack for 6 months, no issues what-so-ever, charges between 13.8 and 14.3 volts, have fun.

My batteries (there are two) have already been checked and they are fine. Nonetheless, we replaced the auxiliary battery just to make sure. To no avail, audio and back up camera problems persist. Rear defrost is a known issue. It's not a power issue, the connection itself becomes dislodged from the glass and the entire glass must be replaced as soldering the connection does not work.
Thanks though.

The small aux battery is for stop/start, you only have one starter battery the big one under hood, it may be good but it is probably not fully charged because of smart charging, this maybe causing the problem. If you do as my last post and buy one of these from Ebay,
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vehicle-...r-Checker-2-8-1-6-1-2inch-Black/223104900451?
drive your car and check charging rate you will see that with sensor connected charging will dip to below 13 volts hence not charging, with sensor disconnected charge rate will stay between 13.8 and 14.3 volts, this indicates battery is being charged to max capacity. This may or may not fix problem but you have nothing to loose by trying the hack.

I don`t own a Wrangler but visited many forums looking for a fix to get rid of Stop/start on my Merc and came across the sensor hack, this then led to why the sensor was there in the first place, Rob.

Believe me, BOTH of my batteries and their charging have been checked sufficiently.

May I ask BobUK, are you yourself having this problem? I noticed that you joined the thread today and that your vehicle is a Merc? I'm asking because I want to know if you've done this yourself on a 2018 Wrangler JL.

I'm pretty sure you guys have it documented from the previous times I posted that I'm also having audio issues. Honestly, what's the point? FCA doesn't have a fix after all of these documented complaints and quite frankly, deserves to be at the receiving end of a massive class action for knowingly selling us a bunch of lemons.
