Looks like a fun build. I will say, I hate the sound of class D amps. I have a JL Audio 5ch class D amp I bought for a prior build, still near new in the box- had it for a week and never liked the sound on Kevlar based Focals. Too glassy and digital. I swapped in my older Class A Soundstream and it was perfect.

Not going to mod the Wrangler beyond adding upgraded speakers. I now prefer to save my hifi dollars for the house, tube amps and vinyl.

but I enjoy watching these builds.

Made a little bracket to hold the circuit breaker:

You can see how convenient a few of the factory bolt locations turned out to be! :)

Looks like we had similar thoughts on circuit breakers and mounting location.
(Former car audio person myself.)

Perfect timing on posting, David. I'm currently scoping out components to update the new 2020 JL I've ordered.

The Morel Elate mids dropped into the dash as if they were made for it:

The Morel supplied tweeter pods also look great and will mount to the factory grill:

I also got the Metra pods and the 6.5" almost fits... I'll do to a little trimming and then make a baffle for it. The pod will be vented with an aperiodic vent.

I would really appreciate that you post pics of how you attach the Morel supplied tweeter pods.:please:. Thanks in advance

@DavidRam any updates??? I wish I could hear the dash speakers! I have the Alpine system and want to upgrade it a little. Do you think I could replace the factory 3.5" dash speakers with these tweeters and mids?

No updates yet... Works been killing me...

You "could" replace the dash speakers and tweeters with the Morels, but I would check and see what kind of wattage your Alpine amp is putting out.

Sometimes simply swapping relatively expensive speakers into stock speaker locations without upgrading the amps can leave a person a little disappointed. Not to mention, the crossovers for the individual speakers and how those would be set up.
