Good to know. I'll be replacing/swapping out the pods for the Metra 6.5" pod with a good Focal 6.5" woofer (part of their PS165F3's), seems like a simple fix that would take very little extra sound treatment material. Thanks!I didn't treat the inside because I didn't want to reduce the interior volume of pods that are already to small... The outside treatment was to take away the hollow, plasticy sound of the pods, and it did a really good job of that.
I don't think it would make a noticeable difference to do this to factory pods with factory equipment, but my pods with the Morel speakers will be getting 150 watts rms so they needed all the help they could get.
I looked through and didn't see an explanation, why did you attach this birch baffle to the pod? Looking at the speaker pod re-installed, it looks like you still have (barely) enough clearance to the knee panel, so that's not a problem. I've found that the Focal speakers I have, the 6.5 woofer in their flax 3-way, doesn't quite fit into one of the pods, because of the way the interior is and the weird backside of the Focal speaker. I need about 1/4" of material to build up around the hole to make it sit nice, I'm wondering if this is partly why you did that birch baffle?Rough cut for the 1/2" birch plywood baffle
Yep, exactly. I wanted something stronger and more dense to attach the speaker to.I looked through and didn't see an explanation, why did you attach this birch baffle to the pod?
