Hi,

Seems like questions regarding Mopar's sparte tire reinforcement kit (Mopar Part #: 82215355, and Mopar Part #: 82215356AB) focuses on 37" tires...

Do you think I'll need the mopar reinforcement kit for 315/70/17 tires with the stock Rubicon wheels? I took a look at the tire weights and it will only be adding somewhere between 5-7lbs (depending on the tire).

At what additional weight does it make sense to purchase the Mopar's kit? adding 10lbs, 20lbs, etc?

Thanks

p.s. I'm not interested in waiting and installing an aftermarket rear bumper with carrier.

You won’t have any issues with a 35. Or a 37 for that matter. 85lbs in addition to the stock tire. That includes any future rail system.

Are you saying the tailgate can handle 85 lbs PLUS the stock tire and wheel. So more like 160 lbs? If so than the reinforcement kit by Mopar would never be needed :movember:

85lbs including spare tire. basically only stock can hang in there. They want you to spend 1000 and by mopar.
some runs without them for 35 and no issue. but its really upto you and your responsibility.
I won't risk it and just spend to get mopar reinforcement in my case.

i don't think you need it if tire you chose are only 5-6 lbs more than stock.

Yes that's what I am saying. It was built that way for the trail rail system, but if people want spend all that extra cash with Mopar for no reason then go right ahead I say.........

A 285/70/17, the stock Rubi tire is 51# A Ko2 315/70/17 6 ply is 65#. That's 14# additional.
