Great post, could not have said it better myself. Thanks again for setting this up!“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
- J.R. R. Tolkien
Maybe our experience gives a few of us a new meaning to that poem?
Lmao at “goat trail”!
Goat trail, Jeep trail... they really are similar after all... well... they can be anyway, LOL!
Part of what we all experienced on this run is allot like what any adventurer would experience going into the unknown and trusting on his wit, skills and equipment to get him through. You were right. We were never really lost, but we were “exploring” for a way out that we knew existed. (At least we presumed existed, based on the facts or data present to us, maps, etc.)
Now I realize that that isn’t part of the “normal” Jeep experience today, but it certainly has been in the past, and it did add a certain element of personal challenge beyond that of the normal, mundane “We are going here, this way, and everything is defined, and well established”.
By the way, if you ever hear the words “We might get lost in the desert”, or “The route isn’t completely known” again, you’ll know what to expect!! Hahahaha!!
Just to be clear, we were all up for the challenge, capable in our skills and our rigs, whether we knew it or not. That is evidenced by us all stepping up, meeting the challenge despite our doubts, and coming through on the other side!
Jeeping into the unknown is not for everyone, to be sure. Some know it’s not for them before even trying it, presumably from some other life experience or fear...
There is only one way to find out if it is for you or not and that’s to try it. You’ll know right away if it’s for you or not after you experience it.
I think everyone should experience it a few times just to “Be sure”...
The anxiety, adrenaline, and test of your equipment and mettle can be quite addicting for those who are a little more extreme in their “adventure streak”.
I hope everyone here won’t take this as I’m a “Madman” and will continue to go out Jeeping with me!!
LMAO!!
