To be fair...the article doesn't say that it was a Jeep marketing ploy. There's still no definitive answer. The originally found monolith had been there for years, long before Jeep announced a hybrid.
It's just showing that someone in the Jeep marketing department decided to make some mediocre photoshops of the monoliths as 4xe charging stations.
I hear Jeep is putting a charging station at Rubicon springs. These electric car people are pretty serious about this being the future, so probably not the worst marketing campaign idea.
It's like FCA building a new Wrangler (at the same price too) - one out of four has steering problems, the electronics go haywire after a few months, the CEL comes on......
