I went back and forth with different ways to protect the undercarriage of my JL. Line-x was a strong option but after seeing videos of how moisture and salt can get in between the undercarriage and the black lining I crossed that off. It can actually do more harm than good. So I went with fluid film, it’s Lanolin based and waxy. I ordered six cans from amazon with the attachment that helps reach into the frame.

I rinsed the undercarriage thoroughly yesterday and gave it a day to dry. Luckily my neighbor has a lift. We put her on the lift and sprayed about 5 cans worth in the frame, in the wheel wells, springs and all pretty much covered everything in sight and out of sight also by attaching the hose and getting into all the nooks and crannies. Time will tell but I am very happy so far the application was simple and the film does run a little but it sticks and the undercarriage is shining.

On a side note, yes it stinks but who cares the car is protected. I mean we are in the garage not the perfume counter at Macy’s! Anyway, I will let you all know how it holds up. I’m just trying to protect the Jeep from the poop they spray on the roads.

Almost sounds water based. How long is it supposed to last?

I'll let you know if I ever have issues with the LineX. JKU has had it for 2 yrs now and no problems. JL just had it's treatment last month.

Good choice. I had a gorgeous F150 that rusted (rockers, transm lines, anything not plastic) after 5 years. Heart breaking. I had a shop spray Fluid Film on my new Jeep last August. I did quite a bit of research in advance. This product has been used in the marine and construction industry for a long time. It will require annual application and avoid spray washing the undercarriage until then ( you prb know all that). The next warm day I hope to crawl under to see how it's holding up. The smell is worse in a closed garage, but it will go away in about 3 weeks. Good luck.

Sprayed my last two Jeeps and wifes Lincoln with fluid film when they were brand new. Stuff works great. My 2015 Hard Rock I just traded looked new underneath. I don't mind the initial smell at all. Product is Lanolin based and creeps into corners and cracks.

Similar to Fluid Film, I used Amsoil’s heavy duty metal protector. I have used it on all my vehicles and it works great. Needs to be re-applied every year or so, depending on how much you drive. I drive my vehicles very little and it last a couple years.
