We picked up a TrailManor 2720 off Craigslist. It's probably around 3400 lbs wet. The 2.0t pulled it without any trouble. Even at 70 mph I could put the pedal down to pass and it accelerated rapidly. According to the dash, we averaged 21.6 mph over the 300 mile trip. I am very happy!

At first I ordered an EAZ Lift weight distribution hitch, but when it came and I couldn't even lift the 100+ lb box, I decided that would use too much of my tongue weight capacity. So I returned it and got an Andersen Hitches 3324 'No Sway' Weight Distribution Hitch, which only weighs about 50 lbs. It worked out quite well, and I was able to get the Jeep and the trailer perfectly level.

This was our first time using a camper, and we really enjoyed it. We're going to be doing a lot more of this!

With a normal hitch:

With weight distribution hitch:

Also, here'a a link to the post of the brake controller I used.

And the 675 lb tongue weight hitch I used.

And here's the Trailmanor in action. It's really amazing how much engineering they did to make a relatively small camper quickly open up to a living space well over double the original volume. I believe its the largest camper you can pull with the 3500 lb tow rating.

We've never owned a travel trailer. We are looking at a Tab 320S which has a dry weight of 1908 lbs. Our 2-dr JL has a max tow rating of 2000 lbs. Is the Tab's weight too close to the Jeep's limit? Since the JLU has a 3500 lb tow rating, it appears that the 2-door's short wheelbase is the limiting factor.

We don't have another option right now for a TV. Would a weight distribution hitch with sway control help? Any advice would be appreciated. Thx!

I’d definitely have both for stability with such a short TV

What engine, gears are you running? What kind of MPG do you get?
This has the 3.6L engine, manual transmission and stock 3.45 gear ratio. I tow at 60 mph in 4th gear and downshift as needed. Mileage varies but averages 15-16 while towing.

You should be OK with the T@B. We towed one with our JKU without sway control, but I would recommend it with the 2 dr JL. The problem with a WD hitch is that it puts a lot of torque on the receiver and the stock receiver may not be up to those twisting loads. It is possible to strengthen the receiver (I have done this on the JKU and our new JLU to handle the WD system.)
