Anyone Tow a Camper? Size? Pics?

No... they didn't give a wd hitch rating like they do with their other vehicles, most likely due to the removable top. It does better than my mother's grand Cherokee which is rated at 6000lbs, both in terms of stopping and controlling the trailer. The rubi and sahara have larger brakes, longer wheelbase and the same drivetrain vs the grand Cherokee, exception being the rubi has deeper gears and way beefier axles. Having towed with both and having towed with other vehicles rated higher that were way scarier, I'm not worried with this setup. I've had a few quick stops and some 25mph winds, so far so good.

Couldn't say the same for my old grand wagoneer that was rated 5000lbs... If the hitch wasn't set up perfectly and the trailer loaded a little off it was scary.

I added the Air Lift kit a couple of weeks ago, and today we towed our camper through the hills. It is fabulous now! Tows like a dream and rides right. I posted another photo in the thread about the Air Lift install...

While this is not for every state most do comply. Towing a trailer over 3000K should you should be using a trailer with brakes. I realize many are willing to risk it but remember those of us innocent drivers also on the road with you.

Here is the general requirements

"Under 3001 lbs brakes not required unless trailer exceeds 40% of the towing vehicle gross weight. Every combination of vehicle shall at a speed of 20 mph be capable of stopping within a distance of 40 feet. Required on all trailers on all wheels"

Also note the ball should be with 3" (up/down) of level trailer

Before I got a hitch with lift instead of drop, now I’m level but haven’t taken pics. I have a sway bar and even without it have no issues. Pushing about 3k with the camper loaded.

I wondered why a JLU had a much lower tow rating then a GC (5000 lbs) and a Durango (6200lbs) when equipped with the same motor and trans, and comparble wheelbase.

Built this one on a 4 x 8 frame and towed it all over with my 2016 JKUR. Weighed just under 1200 lbs and pulled like it wasn’t even there. I sold it to make room for all the JL work, but I will build another one (5 x 8) in the future. This type of trailer compliments Wranglers well!

How big is this trailer and the weight specs. Wife wants to get a trailer now. We got rid of our Pickup I’m feeling it now but not regretting my Jeep purchase. Would like to be able to tow a small travel trailer for the wife and daughters to sleep in and me and my son can tent it! I do have the sport tho!

Mine might be a tad over 3500lbs... Good weight distributing hitch with sway control and it tows well.

We had one of these hybrids (rowed it with my Tundra). Best of both worlds. Hard camper living area, Queen And full bed like you find in a pop up. Don’t remember our specific units specs, but was probably similar to this one. Kitchen, bath w/shower dinette. Towed very nice behind my truck.
