Just got back from pulling this trailer cross country and back. Wife wanted bathroom so we found this Nice small camper (Sunlite 16bh) with a dry bath and shower. Went through Colorado mountains and in Moab, Utah and Page, Az with temp over 100 degrees. Also used Mopar brake controller with no issues. Thought I’d share..

Any issues with the trailer after the long trip? Looking for a light weight set up as well for the Mrs and I. Weight seems to be my biggest enemy - do you know the loaded weight of your rig? After a trip like this, would you buy it again?

No issues at all! The trailer worked great and we had no problem pulling. The dry weight is 2480, hitch-180, and GVWR-3500 which is what the Jeep is rated for. I don’t know the exact loaded weight we were at but no way I was even close to 3,500. We actually kept some fresh water in the tank just to add some weight to it and seemed to tow better and helped for quick over night stops. I would estimate about 3,000-3,200. I would definitely buy it again and we’re thinking of another cross country trip next year!

We’re contemplating getting a travel trailer...read that max weight is 3500lbs, anyone have a trailer that size and have experience towing it with your Jeep?
How does Jeep perform? Easy tow vehicle? We’re new to the trailering experience......
Any advice would

Congrats. We’re on our third season with a 320. You will love it. Get a 3 inch king mattress topper from Amazon and cut to fit. You’ll thank me later.

I just picked up my 2022 19ERD. 3090 dry with 370 tongue. Installed the equalizer hitch today and got it all ready to go for a short maiden voyage to the Columbia River Gorge. My suburban towed it home like a charm without the equalizer hitch. Hoping the Jeep will too, since it has more torque than the Chevy. It's the diesel with tow package and factory break controller.

No I can't open the tailgate. I've read suggestions about adding an extension to the hitch which would move the trailer further away, but it wasn't really an issue. For one night stops where I didn't unhitch I also didn't need anything from the back of the jeep.

I tow a fairly large pop-up camper with 2020jlus, 2.0t engine.
The camper is 17'toungue to bumper, weigh about 2500...
The only thing I notice is the mileages is actually very good 9litrr per 100km or 26mpg. I tow at 100kmh speed which is 20 km slower than driving the Jeep alone, so much more saving in air resistance.

I don't know when you guy keep saying single digit mpg, is that because of the travel trailer is too high, another 1000lb shouldn't matter so much in mpg.. I actually wanted to upgrade to a small hybrid trailer.

Rented a Coleman Dutchman 17B off Outdoorsy this weekend. There's a full-writeup in my build thread, but it's rated just over 3,000 dry, I estimate it was at ~3,300-3,400 with our gear. Just took it to a state park, so wasn't carrying water or much food/etc.

The Jeep ('21 Sahara Altitude 2.0L, factory tow package, no brake controller) pulled it fine, but was obviously struggling. Cut my MPG from ~20-25 to ~10-12, which also killed my range (from ~400mi per tank to ~200mi). Sagged the back end quite a bit, too, as you can see in the pic. Just took it ~2hrs away, so wasn't super worried as this was intended to be a test.

Overall, it worked, but I wouldn't do it again. Not without maybe an equalizer hitch, brake controller, and better mirrors (I had some extensions but they weren't far enough out).

Planning to try dropping down to a teardrop or popup next time, see if I can get closer to the 2,000lb mark to see how that affects it.

Need to get a better pic but we are locked down at the moment. The trailer has a max weight of 3500lb but is normally at 2600-2700lb with a tow ball weight of around 350lb, Jeep is rated to tow 5500lb. I have airbags in the rear and a RedArc tow pro 3 elite brake controller with a 2" hitch and a McHitch Automatic coupling (Google it if you haven't seen them). I have only towed it once with the JL and that was before the airbags went in, did do lots of miles with the JK Rubicon (3.8 4 speed Auto) though, it's night and day compared to the JLUR

Jeep is a 3.6 auto with 305/70R17's and 2" lift, tows great, got 15mpg last run on steep hilly terrain, the fact the camper is lower than the roof of the Jeep and not as wide really helps, also makes it great offroad.

Before the airbags went in and the auto hitch want on.

Do you happen to know what length and drop ball mount your friend uses to tow his Patriot camper? We just ordered an X1N and I want to be sure we get the set up correct.

@NMElkHunter It looks like you've deleted your spare tire here with this rig. Is that right? Did you do this in order to clear the hitch coupler and maintain a level tow? It also looks like you might have a bit of a rise on the hitch too, is that right? A couple inches? I am looking at a similar trailer (a Hive EX Camper Trailer) and have been wondering what it would be like with stock ride height. Curious if you would be able to get a level tow setup, without an extension, and WITH a spare tire. I see guys with larger tires (37") towing these types of off-road trailer doing a slight drop (2" maybe). So, i am hoping i'd be able to go with a 0" drop/rise, but unsure and it looks like you've got a similar ride height to what i'll arrive at.

Looks really great! And i bet its fun! Have you been able to take the trailer out and test its offroad capability at all yet!?

FYI....I towed this up north about 700 miles round trip this past weekend. The jeep did great, not the best MPG, but I'm running 37's, so I expected that.

I did stop at at a CAT scale on the way. The sticker on the trailer says 3005 lbs. We had all our clothes, food, and camper accessories in the camper. The only items I had in the jeep were things associated with trail recovery. My trailer ended up weighing 3,340 lbs.

Here is our new trailer, Intech RV Sol Dawn with the Rover package. Dry weight, 2731 pounds, The JLUS has the 4 cylinder turbo with selec-trac and 3.45 gears. Pulled fine for our first destination which was about 2-1/2 hours each way.

I have a 2 door 2021 jeep Wrangler and would like to buy a Intech sol Horizon Rover..It is 3200 lbs i believe, wondering if I would be ok as the Jeepnis rated for 3500 lbs

A 2 Door Wrangler is rated for 2000 lbs, not 3500 lbs. The horizon is too big for either, you need to look at the gross weight and tongue weight of the trailer. To tow the horizon you would need a bigger SUV with a minimum 5000 lb tow rating or a mid to full size truck.
