After alot of research and test fitting 37s, I finally pulled the trigger and sold my 315/70/17 ko2's load c and ordered 37/12.50/17 load d milestar's and 17x9 4.5 backspacing kmc machete non beadlocks. :involve: I was tempted to get the 38/13.50/17 bc of the load c rating...had them purchased and switched the order to 37s. The deciding factor was based on having a 6 speed with 4.10's and wanting less rotational mass on the brakes/bearings/steering and to reduce the need to spend more $ regearing. Although the 38 is lightweight for its size, it still weighs 10lbs more than the 37. I wish the 37 came in a load c....my tire guru good friend thinks it was crazy to not get the 38 bc the load c will ride softer and flex alot better offroad. I'll have them mounted this week...I'm sure I"ll regret not getting 38s. :giggle: :headbang:
The 40s are load D as well. The two sets of 38s seem to ride softer/smoother than the 40s. The 40s seemed a bit stiff and I could feel the lugs slightly. However, some of this could be related to springs. The 40s were on progressive springs. Both sets of 38s were on linear springs (albeit different brands of springs).

Currently running the 38s at 26 PSI.

Interesting...I was also avoiding going to 38s due to likely having to spend more $ dealing with additional clearance issues and harder on components. Going to 38x13.50 from 315/70/17 ko2's seems like a big jump with 4.10 gears and 6 speed. Would you have gone with 38s?

4.10s with auto is fine. I see 8th a little less but nothing major. I don't have experience with the 6 speed but from what I have been seeing a regear would be wanted sooner than later.

Another $1800 to regear...not in the plans for now.

I went thru the same thing and did the same as you. 37s. I wanted 38s for the extra ground clearance but it's only a bit more and maybe even the same. Many have stated even while aired down the 37s don't appear to be so. This is likely due to the D rating and while the ride or traction might not be as good ground clearance could be.

I'll be towing a 2k trailer and the D rating is more suitable. Also I have great suspension and the ride quality wont likely suffer that much. As far as hard core wheeling, thinking it will be a distinction without much of a difference. We'll see.

Just ordered a set of 5 from Northridge. Hard to beat the base price, free shipping, no tax, and $100 gift card for the black friday sale. I really wanted to get KO2s but they don't come with white letters on a 35 unless you get the load E. So the Milestars won out on cost and for having white letters on a load D.

What height does a 37x12.50r17 measure out to mounted on the Jeep? I ordered a 3.5 GC lift and I'm debating on maybe going with a 38 if the 37s measure small.

Mine measure 35 3/4+ on the vehicle-- 8.5 -6 offset at 30 psi. They look great on my metal cloak so called 2.5 lift. 38's would definitely fit. With 38s you would theoretically gain maybe a little more then a half inch in ground clearance, a half inch more sticking out from the wheel well, and about 10 pounds more tire weight.

As I've said before, according to those with the 37's they don't appear to lower with lower air pressure, probably because of the D rating vs the 38s C rating. So thinking the ground clearance is a wash, but trail manners better on the 38s.

Got a black Friday deal on 37 pat's on anza wheels 8.5 with -6 back spacing. Ride quality blows away my 315/70/17 K02's and that is saying something. Road noise is non-existent. We will see how long that lasts, lol But at about 200 at tire it's really hard to complain.

Where'd you get the deal on them? Cheapest one seen, so far, is around $220 at discount tire.

With a 4000 lb wrangler, unless you like a stiffer ride, I see no advantage to going with a d/e load instead of c load. The c load is going to ride better on road and offroad. Its also going to have a bigger footprint when aired down and conform/grip rocks better. Ford engineers chose a c load for the 6000 lb raptor. The d isnt optimal on a JL and the only reason I got the d load is bc no MFG offers a 37" c load at this time. I bet that changes in the near future. I prob should've bought the milestar 38" c load.

I have had 2 sets of the 38x13.50r17 C and one set of the 40x13.50r17 D. The C load ride ride better on road. Result in a smoother, softer ride. Although they are both 13.5" wide the 40s are actually a little over 14"s so this could have some impact on ride as well.

Yeah...the d load is made for heavier vehicles and wont flex/absorb as well on a JL. The post above claiming 37" Pats ride quality blows away 315/70/17 load c ko2's is comical. I've driven both back to back at same psi...the ko2 load c is as smooth/quiet as a hwy tire. It reminds me of when people claim their gas mileage improved after they go from a 35" to a 37" tire in the same tire.:lipssealed:

My 37s delivered to our tire place....I'm considering selling them before I mount them and ordering 38s. However, I dont want to lose $ selling them and have to regear the 6 speed with 4.10s.
