Anyone running a Awning?

Did a search and there doesn’t seem to be any post on awnings. We go to the beach quite often and I realize I need an awning.

What do you all have, size, and pics please.

Its not on our current Jeep because we're waiting on Gobi rack and probably won't throw it on as often now since we have a soft top

I'm running a Smittybilt awning attached to a Rhino Rack. No complaints. It stood up to some strong winds camping in eastern Oregon .

Nice setup man. Thats eventually what I want my end goal to be. I may just opt for a bigger tent. I have my wife and 2 small kids.

Thanks. You'll definitely want a bigger tent. This one is 2 person only. I'm looking into a rugged teardrop trailer so I can have a base camp, more sleep area, and more versatility.

The funny thing is, I have a 24ft Travel Trailer LOL. But theres nothing like really camping out there in the wilderness.

The problem isnt the awning, there are plenty out there.

The problem is there are few roof racks out there for the JL to mount them too.

I have a Pioneer Rack mounted on a Backbone system by Rhino Rack on my JK. RR is releasing there new roof rack for the JL at SEMA next week.

I run and ARB Awning mounted on the RR. Love it

I've kept all my accessories for the Rhino Rack. ARB Awning, Jack Mount, Kayak Mounts, and Fishing pole hardware. RR needs to hurry it up, but so do soo many other aftermarket suppliers.

I run a Rhino rack batwing 270 on my trailer that I pull behind my Jeep. When the JL Rhino Rack backbone becomes available, my plan is to switch it back and forth as needed. It’s a good awning but my biggest complaint about it is how the awning’s bag doesn’t keep the awning dry when stowed.

I wanted to buy the Batwing but read reviews of the Plastic or whatever it is that the whole WING pivots on breaks easily. Do you see this as a weak spot?

Well to be honest not really. They include a few replacement pieces in case it does. If you peg it down as you should, it shouldn’t be an issue.

I like the extra panels that are optional that can zip in. Overall for the cost it is pretty good.

The Alucab one is nice but it does have some shortcomings too and is a lot more expensive. When I get a better picture I will post it up.

If you are going to attend SEMA...ask Rhino Rack when their backbone system will be available for sale. They told me 'sometime before Christmas'.
