To be honest, if I had known about the RollNJack before buying the TLP, I probably would've bought it instead, foolishly not realizing that I really need the space afforded by the TLP's ability to close the rear window. I wouldn't be able to park the jeep in the garage with a RollNJack...well, I guess I could, if I took off the spare every time I wanted to park in the garage.

The TLP was one of those things I purchased before I even had a Wrangler to use it on, it just looked like a great product that I would get a lot of use out of, and I have. I think the top's actually been off longer than the top has been on during my time of ownership, because the TLP makes it so easy.

The only thing I did to mine was add a safety strap:

Living in earthquake county, I've come home to a house that looks like someone's opened every drawer and cupboard door and broken my mismatched (AKA eclectic collection of) dishes looking for drugs.

Is anyone in the midwest trying to sell theirs, I'm in the market?

FYI, guys, if you bought the TLP by itself, you can contact them and they will sell the other pieces to you at a discount equal to the big package available on their site. It is the door cart, door hook, and both covers, for less than what the cart and hook costs.

What is the height of the castor wheels?
Would the bottom bracket clear a 5” height step?
I have a step in my garage and my bumper at about flush with it only gives about a foot of clearance to close the garage door from the spare tire.

From the pic you sent I think you’d have to be back another inch or 2 and you would still have about 10 inches to spare. As a matter of fact the silver car in your pic would clear the lift.
I don’t think it would clear that 5” step which would buy you a few inches up to the lift casters. If need be you could get a couple of 2 x 4’s, cut the edge on an angle and make 2 mini ramps. Then you should definitely clear that step.
Sorry I can’t measure for you. I sold my TLP because I went with Sky One Touch on my JL.

Can someone with a 4dr without head liner take pic of where it touches your top please? Just picked up a used one today and now wondering why it seems to not touch hardtop properly when pushed all the way in. It appears back rubber never touches top only the ends of the metal rod his center channel on hardtop.

TIA

Well. Kinda hits where you mention.

the front pad is definitely on cross rib but the back two pads never touch the roof just the ends of the green tube. In the attached pic I put some rubber on ends just to try it out. If I move back any the top leans so far forward almost can’t get it off the Jeep.

Just got off the phone with TLP tech support (great guy). The problem is they have changed the top portion for the JLs. Look at pic below. The gap between tubes (front and rear) are much wider (at least 8” between ends) than older versions to accommodate the center rib of JL top. I believe looking at photo from their website they have even increased more. I will be trimming mine. You can see in other pics the gap on mine is around 4”.

Great job Rick, I have Sky One now but i'm sure your post will be a great help to the TLP folks.

a TLP is on my wish list probably for next year when I make stronger efforts to get a soft top for the summer months.

Hi, can someone advise how wide toe TopLift Pro is at the base? seriously considering one for my hopefully-soon-to-arrive Rubicon and trying to figure out if it will fit in my garage and how I need to rearrange the stuff that it would displace. Been trying to find the dimensions online but doesn't seem to be published. Thank you!

Rough measurements 38” side to side and 43” front to back.

IMO, unless you don't have a covered place to attach to, a hoist is the way to go. The only real drawback is you need to make sure your Jeep can be positioned where its going to be hoisted from. Some people even get around this by having moving tracks on the roof, all being done for way less than $1000.

I was even able to install one in my carport where there was literally 7 inches of space above the roof of the Jeep. Back in, lift off, and even lifting a couple inches allows you to park under the roof.

Not trying to talk anyone out of it, but once the lift is installed, its just as easy for one person to operate as well and takes up no space when the hardtop is living on the Jeep and not on the lift.

Added benefit is you could even hoist a loaded up cargo rack for camping and store it hanging from the roof and lower and attach for camping/overlanding when needed.

This is a good point and probably a viable option too, the only downside is that there are a couple of sprinklers that are right above and potentially on the way, I’m gauging pros and cons, as any damage from the sprinkles getting tripped would be exponentially more expensive than the difference in cost with the top lift pro. Haven’t made up my mind yet so exploring all these options.
