I used to like these on older vehicles that didn't have power steering, and steering boxes that required a higher number of turns from lock to lock. I'd think that they'd be more in the way with power steering, only 5 turns lock to lock, and a system that no longer needs a helping hand back to center. Just my thoughts.

My uncle uses one on all of his vehicles. He had a stroke a while back and lost most use of his right arm. So that knob lets him steer his truck.
