I got those too. I mean look at the product listing and see if you can add them to your cart? When I do this for the wheels I ordered (back ordered) it says they will ship in a couple days.
I just did and now I can't even find that exact wheel on the site.. weird.. I emailed the guy I was working with.. ill see what he says I guess.

Out of stock and backordered is ALWAYS cheaper than available. lol
So you're ok with a company taking my money (in this case over $1600) at the back ordered price but charging me the new price when they come in stock?

Oh NOOO!! My comment was misunderstood. Everyone always discounts and reduces prices when they know they’re unlikely gonna have to deliver.. when something seems to good to be true, it probably is. I meant nothing towards you..

Additionally, it appears the aluminum below the peeling was very smooth and it almost reminded me of an as-machined (or polished) surface, which it likely is.
Yep it looks like the raw machined surface to me. Pic I used for the claim:

It was also apparent to me that the design of the wheel and the fact that rain water collected in the low spot near the simulated bead lock on the wheel that was in the spare location on the back of the tailgate.
I think you're right that the water collecting in the lip is a contributing factor. We probably don't get near as much rain as you do but when they do get wet it will sit in all 5 wheels until it dries or I wipe it up. Leaves junk like this:

The new wheel design I ordered has small cutouts near the simulated beadlock which act like drain holes to eliminate the water laying in that area while the one wheel is mounted in the spare location.
The drains are probably a great idea. These do look pretty good when they’re clean…

What companies do you recommend?
It wouldn't hurt to try Discount Tire or whoever you normally use for tires. I imagine they all get wheels from the same distributors. When I was there for something else they offered to quote me on getting some wheels custom anodized since the 305NV is an exclusive.

I agree, the 305NV is a very sharp looking wheel when it's clean and the finish isn't peeling!

The drain feature is visible on these Fuel wheels. You can see the little cutouts right through the simulated bead lock.

Back in Aug/Sep I reached out to the Discount Tire rep here on the forum, but he never responded to my inquiry. Agreed, it's very likely all (or most) of the online retailers use the same distribution network.

I would reach back out to Discount Tire and see what they can do, they match prices and have a mil discount online. I’ve been happy with the Methods I bought and tires for the wife’s car. The only other place I also trust is Les Schwab, the two shops I worked with were great in Colorado and Washington state.

I'm less than a year in on my Methods. This thread has me concerned for the black finish on mine. I've noticed the water build up since day 1 from coming out of the car wash. Now with winter here the great state of Illinois loves to spread salt which now puddles on my wheels. Even after driving and parking in the garage, drainage leads to the bottom of the wheel. I do wash at least once a week typically even in winter so hopefully my regular cleanup will help alleviate the corrosion you are seeing.

Personally I’d be less concerned with the original black finish. To me it looks like the red ones start out as black, have the front face machined free of a finish, and the red applied.

Stevie,

I apologize if we missed your question. I'd certainly want to help, PM headed your way.

We have plenty of salt here in PA as well. Sounds like you do a good job of keeping them clean. Just to be clear, this is not corrosion of the aluminum. I'm told by Method rep, that the red finish is a tinted clear coat that is peeling off the aluminum wheel. Most likely from poor surface prep and the standing water might be some kind of mechanism that encourages the delamination. Just my thoughts...

Why not call the other companies who say they have them in stock and check if they do actually? If they do just order there and cancel the order with Custom Offsets.
All these companies use the same suppliers. If they are telling you they're in stock while other honest companies are telling you they aren't, they're just baiting you to get your money. Then they trap you with restocking fees of up to 25% or more.

Possibly. But that isn’t 100% true across the board like you make it sound. I work in electrical distribution and distributors all have access to the same material. But they don’t all stock the same material. Some suppliers may have them while others don’t.
