So after a week of aftermarket wheels and 315/70/17 tires, I have decided to go back to stock.

There's a definite difference in acceleration and MPGs.

I will keep the 35s for UT/AZ trips, however, for 90% of my driving, I prefer the stock setup.
I was thinking of changing to 315s. Really acceleration slows down?
How much is the mpg difference? They are just wider not much bigger arent they?

Wonder if he has a Manual. Apparently Manuals you pretty much have to Re-Gear. The 8-speed is way more forgiving.

I have a manual too. I would have to rehear in 315s? They arenā€™t 35ā€ tires. I thought they were 33s just wider

Regardless of the claims that the Rubicon was designed for 35s, itā€™s not true.

There is a noticeable lag when not punching it, maybe itā€™s the 2.0L / auto.

When driving aggressively, you wonā€™t notice it that much.

Gas took a 3MPG hit, true, after speedo recalibration.

Iā€™m really on the fence now. I purchased a set of TPMS sensors and going to have my stock setup ready to mount back on.

I was also going to install the Mopar 2ā€ lift and decided against it. Going to install the Teraflex leveling spacer kit instead.

Then I will decide on shoes.

Oh you have the turbo. I wouldnā€™t think thereā€™d be a difference.
I just want wider tires. The duz

3. Tire work (rotations and balancing) was a pain because tire shops wanted nothing to do with the spacers. Perhaps that has changed over time? I eventually removed the spacers and lived with less turning radius to remove the headache.
This hasn't changed over time from what I've read. I had my tires mounted at Midas and they didn't flinch, but from posts I've read from others on TJ boards, a lot of places still refuse to touch them.

They are 1.6" larger in diameter, 1.3" wider in tread width and weigh 14 lbs more, each. It's the larger rolling mass that make the MPG difference...although , I wouldn't expect it to be 3 MPG's.

For now, I plan on keeping stock for a year or two. Can't rule out a 2" lift and 35s down the road though.

I apologize if I missed it, but what tire/wheel combination did you go with re: 315/70r17? Sounds like you have the 2.0/auto combo I have on the way and was planning on the same tire size with.

Stock black aluminum rims, and put on 315s KO2's. I did this for both looks, and clearance since I head offroad about every third weekend. Hardly any difference for me in both drive quality, and mpg. (km/100L in my case ;) This is my DD also and so sees both highway and city every day. I actually think the Rubi should have had 35's in the first place - Looks great! Considering the 1.5 Performance Spacer lift next for better breakover.

I like both styles of Rubicon wheels. Glad people take them off and upgraded.
