I just installed a set of K02 T/As to replace my Milestar MTs. I kept the Milestar spare and also an additional one that had some decent tread left. I'm curious about the impact on the Jeep of driving on a mismatched spare should the time come. My logic was to keep an additional Milestar so I could put them both on if needed, although the tread wear is quite different.

Thoughts?

Are the heights the same? If so, not a big deal if the tread is difference between getting the flat and the tire shop.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
Assuming they are different diameters.

If your differential is unlocked then it is made to differentiate between the tires rolling at different rpm. If the differential is locked it will cause additional wear on the tire and should be avoided for the long term, but will be fine to get you off the trail, especially if the trail is dirt and more forgiving.

I have a mismatched spare-bought used while on a wheeling trip, for emergency use only. If I swap it out, it's to get me home and it will be replaced then.

As others have said, diameter / circumference is key for a spare. For a temporary and in 2WD should be more forgiving if the diameter / circumference is slightly off. Differentials can handle a slight variation easily, when you turn a corner all 4 wheels will travel a different distance based on the turning radius that wheel sees.

that's how differentials are made to work. cars have space-saver spares (smaller than the stock tire) and nothing happens.

Around southern California, I see old beat to death pickups with lawnmowers in the bed and 4 different sized tires all the time. ... and patches and plugs in the edge of the tread too. ;) ?

if they're the same diam and just different tread pattern and wear, don't even give it a second thought using it as a spare until you can purchase a matched replacement; however long a trip and number of days that ends up being
