Just ask @cosine he knows!
Went on a five day camping trip with two JKUs. Granted, they were carrying more weight (passengers and gear), but their fuel consumption eclipsed their 4 gallon tank advantage.
My 2dr gets decent mpg, even w/ all my aftermarket steel add-ons, over 20 mpg mostly, unless I run into headwinds or crosswinds, then it drops to about 10  :angry:

Did you get the new cast-iron steering box and longer LCAs to get caster to 6? If not I'd say do it ASAP, my 2dr has great steering at all speeds (for a live front axle that is) :)

Only 2dr regret is having 4 less gallons of fuel than the 4drs, but that's a tradeoff I'll take 24/7 365 out of 365!
I havenā€™t done the steering box or lcas yet. Itā€™s good to hear feedback that they work well.
Iā€™ve been reading threads about the LCAs but Iā€™m a bit worried that theyā€™ll put too much caster into it on an unlifted Jeep.

No, the Mopar lift LCAs are only a 1/4" longer so your caster which is in the low 4s will be right around 6 after the swap, a huge win for only $80 if you DIY, and here's my install post

I'm considering a 2 door for trips with the rear seat out and probably the passenger seat folded or taken out. The idea is to pull a small trailer for the equipment and set up a base camp and to use the Jeep for sleeping. I thought about a roof top tent for the trailer but that would be hard with my cat and dog. I also thought of a teardrop but the wait on those is very long right now but I guess I could build my own. But I have a question. I asked on a different thread but had no response. For those of you with 2 doors, what is the distance between the passenger dashboard and tailgate? I know sleeping diagonal is an option but I'm thinking I may have a fridge-freezer on the driver side. Thanks.

The trailer route is what I'm doing.
I have a hiker trailer on order around October this year. Until then I have a nice trailer with a roof top tent. I plan on picking up a small 5 x 8 utility trailer for any other hauling I need. I will say, for my dog I bought the annex and he sleeps in the bottom while I'm on top.

I had a 4 door and never used half the space. But it's also just me and my golden.

Better to ask anyone had four-door regret as you indicated it's just too big for some people's needs

Until recently a Wrangler tried and true has always been and will always be a 2 door.

I presently have a 2014 JKUR, and sometimes think it's just too big for my needs. I really want a 2 door JL, but worry that it'll be too small. I have no need for the back seat, and although I can't find pictures with the back seat removed, I know it's possible. Anyone have experience with this dilemma? Pictures with the back seat removed?

Would someone with a 2 door let me know the distance between the passenger side dashboard to the tailgate? Thanks

FYI: It's more like 37s with a 2" lift for a 4-door to equal a 2-door with 35s

Or a 7" lift with a 4-door to equal a 2-door with a 2" lift and 35s. Could put 47" tires on a 4-door with stock suspension and get that, right? Might need to trim a little 4-door fender tho. :like:

If only the 4 door was available, I would remove the rear doors, install factory half doors ; then get the wrap around Roadster soft top, extended Tonneau, and Presto ! My very own J6 2 door..
