Yeah, it'd be me and my wife as well. We usually take turns being the spotter when needed, just so we can both have fun.
This is sad, but I am better off without my wife spotting. She does not know left from right, driver or passenger, or 1 inch from 1 foot.

That's too bad! My wife is pretty good and usually ends up being the primary spotter when we're in a group. Makes it easier to run solo. I generally prefer to run just us unless its a trail that is known for being extra tough (ie Holy Cross in CO) because we have kids (8 & 5) and its easier to go it alone than worry about them/other jeepers fitting together. We ran all the Ouray trails solo as well as Poison Spider and Fins and Things this last summer and it was an awesome time!

I realize at the Adventure Academy and most organized places they say never go alone. That being said, we're not new to this and regularly go on 7-9 trails when we are in a group. We have all the gear, winch, etc. but sometimes want to go to Gulches in SC or Uwharrie in NC on a whim where we couldn't find anyone to go with. I've thought about going and just meet some people, but that's not guaranteed. Any of you done trails alone?
All the time, I prospect and cant always find anyone to go with me, I do consider my options when I do, more worried about the jeep conking out than anything else.

I go offroading by myself all the time, I'm prob antisocial but for me, being out in nature going wherever I want without having to check in with someone else, is what off-roading is all about. I'd maybe be ok with one or two others, but other than that, not into this massive convoy nonsense lol

Has anyone researched the new iPhone emergency satellite comms? Is it an acceptable substitute for the inreach?
My understanding is that your iPhone will contact emergency services. Your emergency contacts on your phone can be copied but you cannot use it as a 2-way communication with those contacts. So you are effectively calling for government/professional emergency services. So expect a huge bill if you need to be extracted.

Most people have a hard time believing Nevada has mountains like those around Jarbidge...
IMG_1953eprtbn.jpg
I have seen several sources say that Nevada is the "most mountainous" state in the US. That seems to be based on the number of named ranges.

The Edge: And the most mountainous state is...Nevada?
If measured by the state with the number of named mountain ranges, then the distinction goes to Nevada.
Nevada has more than 300 named mountain ranges.
Nevada Maps & Facts
Nevada is the most mountainous U.S. State and comprises over 150 (named) individual mountain ranges. Over 30 of the state’s mountain peaks exceed 11,000 ft.

Wheeling alone is like drinking alone:

We shouldn’t be doing it, but we do it on occasion.
I don't drink, but 50/50 wheel alone. I tweaked some words here:

I Jeep alone, yeah
With nobody else
I Jeep alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself

Now every morning just before breakfast
I don't want no coffee or tea
Just me and my good buddy Wrangler
That's all I ever need

'Cause I Jeep alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself

Yeah, the other night I laid sleeping
And I woke from a terrible dream
So I caught up my pal JK Manual's
And his partner Mojito Green

And we Jeeped alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself

Yeah, the other day I got invited to a party
But I hit the trail instead
Just me and my pal Rock Crawler
And his brothers Willy and Firecracker Red

And we Jeeped alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself

Yeah my whole family done give up on me
And it makes me feel oh so bad
The only one who will hang out with me
Is my old TJ granddad
And we Jeep alone, yeah
With nobody else

Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself
Yeah, you know when I Jeep alone
I prefer to be by myself

I Jeep alone

As said several times, my Wife and I are always alone. we carry the tools, water & E-food for three days, trauma kit . Ouray every year in Sept for the trees..LOL.. Like Ohio Jeeper!. Many overlanding trips West Texas into NM and up Oklahoma way. One thing we are never without is both of our 1911s and a 454 Casull for bears and lions. And of course for those who dabble in crime looking to cause bodily harm or worse.
Older and not necessarily wiser, but we do enjoy life. (We do take the occasional older grandchild with us too)

If you wheel allot or take lots of road trips especially alone w / family members there is a solution such as an ISAT Phone with a 50 minute monthly fee of $59.00. The phone is a one time $900.00 roughly. Works literally anywhere you could wheel to. World wide and on top of the highest mountains.

I would probably go with a Garmin Inreach mini. $399 + $15/month.

All the time. Take it slow, keep the difficulty ratings low, and have fun.
