Here are some guesses about the meaning of 40.4:

  • The new starting price for a 2022 Wrangler: $40,400 + destination
  • The average number of visits it takes a Jeep dealer to replace a lightbulb
  • The number of days the factory battery is likely to last
  • The number of Ford Broncos delivered
  • How many hands it takes to push a Ford Bronco...

I wouldn’t take the up arrow pointing at the rear of the Willys as meaning anything; it looks like “⬆ 40.4” is just centered underneath the Willys graphic, nothing more than that, the arrow happens to be under the rear of the Willys.

I bet it’s an expansion of the 4xe tech to other models, and maybe some reflection of increased fuel economy.

These two guesses are my favorites. :like:
Especially since one tire is noticeably bigger than the other in the image and the arrow is pointing right at the larger one. One of those two is what I think is most likely what they are hinting at.
I'm running 33s on a JLUR which is quoted at 30" crossingdepth. 35s would only add one more inch of clearance, so a lot more work would need to be done to get almost 10 more inches if fording..
