Anyone else have OCD or Quirky behavior?

(1) Any Velcro strap in my Jeep needs to be pulled as tight as possible
(2) Always confirm with one more push when rolling up window
(3) Seat adjustment needs to be at the exact position

Of course all these developed after I get Jeep, my previous car has no Velcro, auto window up, and seat memory...

[Trauma Jeep]

For the people that have real OCD problems, I mean no disrespect with the title. I just wonder if others have certain rituals involving their Jeeps. Here's a short list of mine........
1) If I take the doors off (JLU) I must take off all 4 or I won't even bother. And the back windows (Sky One)

2) When I reinstall the doors I have to put the hinge bolts back in. Even if I'm planning to take the doors off again soon.

3)After washing and drying the Jeep, I will skip the interior if it's clean, skip the glass if it looks clean but always have to clean the door jams and the inner step area under the door.

4)Even if i'm only traveling a mile or so I always plug my iPhone into the Car Play. (I act like my Jeep wouldn't operate without it.)

5) Ok one more....when I'm starting the engine in the garage my eyes always go to the odometer and the mileage. I then make a mental note of the mileage just to see how many miles I drove that day. (to lazy to set the trip meter)

Go ahead rip me a new one, call me a whacko I don't care. I can take it but I'll bet I'm not the only one with certain "rituals".

Like #4, the Bluetooth is too spotty on my 7 inch head unit.

1) Dual climate zones have to be synced. When my wife lowers her side a degree, I can’t function.

2) To keep my starter from screeching, I have to release the brake before the engine catches. It’s a perfectly-times procedure. Foot on brake, press start button, release brake just before the engine catches.

3) The volume has to be set to even numbers. I’ll settle for too loud or too quiet but it has to be even.

Wow as I read on I see I’m worse than I thought because you guys are showing me things that I do besides the original list.

I too, when the windows are up double check and hit all 4 buttons up again (1 at a time mind you. All 4 at once might cause a nuclear explosion).

I too, even though the garage is warm let my engine idle until at least the initial higher idle slows down.

When I was a kid, I had OCD. Kinda outgrew it, but still remembered how it felt to be a slave to ritual. It wasn't 'til I was an adult and OCD entered into the popular vernacular, that I realized I wasn't as weird as I thought. It was somewhat comforting to share my suffering.

At least now I can tell the difference between useless ritual and a habit that simply gives me peace of mind. When I was a kid, and I was the last to leave the house, I had to lock the front door 16 times. Lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, etc.

Now, as an adult, I don't pull away from the driveway until the garage door is 100% closed. See now, I never think, "Did I close the garage?" because I made it part of the process. Even if I'm late, I don't leave until the garage door is shut.

I’ve kept a receipt for every tank of fuel I’ve put in the jeep (59 so far). On it I write “Tank 59” or whatever number tank it is, the miles driven since last fill up per trip odometer A, and “17.8 mpg (c)” or whatever the mpg for that tank as indicated by the computer.

Later I take about 20-25 of these at a time and put them into an excel document which calculates the observed mpg and the difference between observed and computer-calculated.

The only way I could make my spreadsheet more detailed would be to include the gas station at which I filled up, but I figure if I ever want that data I can pull it from the receipt.

Across the first 53 tanks the computer averaged 0.4 mpg too generous; I averaged 17.9 mpg over 13,230 miles and 741 gallons.

I’m guilty of 4.
Auto start stop is actually fun in the manual. Slow down to about 2mph and the car shuts off. As long as you don’t push in the clutch you’re driving engine off. Becomes a game how far I can get with no engine. If traffic is inching forward and it’s downhill....pretty far.

When getting in, I always take a moment to see if it still has the new car smell (even with the top off). Once I smell it, I am filled with a moment of pure joy, then I move on.

I think everyone is a bit OCD about something...

I am weird about volume - It has to be set at intervals of 5. For example volume 10, or volume 15. I'd never be able to tolerate volume 11, 12, 13, or 14.

I do the same, except I just use a phone app to log it all. I've done this for at least 5 years, 3 different vehicles, and my wife thinks I'm absolutely insane.

This is the best thread, ever. I now know I am not totally alone in the world. So far, my favorite is the even number radio volume. That is so OCD, I don't even know what to say....
