Not only did my Uconnect have visible delamination, but also had spurious random behavior like constantly asking over and over if I wanted to set the time. It would randomly end cellular calls just like pressing the hang up button on the screen. When using Settings it would immediately return to the Home Screen with the time setting dialogue box making settings such as hill start assist impossible to set. It wasnā€™t just an appearance problem but affected the safety and usability of the vehicle. It was worse in cold weather. Iā€™m glad itā€™s now fixed and hope it stays that way for the rest of the time I own the vehicle. My last Jeep was a 2000 XJ 2-door Sport in-line 6 I drove for 19 years.

My 2018 JL is doing the same but is out of warranty. I am told I will have to replace the radio. "REPLACE THE RADIO???". Seriously???? A 4 year old automobile. I have never replaced a radio in any of my automobiles. And this isn't the only issue I have had with the PIECE OF JUNK.. Now I see why everyone buys extended warranties. Which is sad to have to do that. I just ordered "LEMON" stickers to put on the jeep in full view for everyone to see. Living in Atlanta I should get a lot of looks.

You donā€™t have to replace the entire radio. It can be fixed at home with a couple screwdrivers.

I watched a couple of YouTube videos of guys removing the screen, cleaning the adhesive off the screens, lined the edge of the screen with mounting tape and reassembled. The unit turned on like nothing was wrong. All the functions worked. Do you know anything about this process? And thank you for your suggestion.

The product I posted is the entire touchscreen, and is what I replaced my peeling one with. Itā€™s plug and play, no need for any adhesive to be removed/added.

Itā€™s very easy.

Its delaminating just like the 1,000's of others who are complaining. It's out of warranty, 69,000 miles, driven in Georgia. Bought the JL in 2018, second one to be delivered to my dealer. Very dissatisfied having to deal with this. So Steph...now that you have this info what does Jeep plan to do about it?

My wife's Renegade just developed this same issue. Started in the top left corner just like everyone else's. So far it hasn't spread too much and hasn't caused any issues with changing stations or anything but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

You can buy a newer version of the screen on eBay. This is the one I bought.

So you say this is just a matter of a few screw drivers? No soldering or anything like that huh? Anything special I should know about changing it out?
Guess I'm about to have a project on my hands. That is assuming she doesn't end up buying the Wrangler she's been eyeing for a few days now.

no soldering, no gluing. Unclip the old ribbon cable, remove the display and clip the new one on. A screwdriver, maybe an Allen wrench.

I was surprised how easy it was.

My Jeep is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have the same issue. I have just ignored it but now it seems to have spread a lot more and my radio presses radio buttons all the time and has become unusable, as it changes all my songs and messes with my GPS.

I called Uconnect Support at 1-800-826-6632. They are aware of the issue. They said I have to take it to a Jeep dealership to get an initial diagnosis. They gave me a case number and told me to give it to the jeep dealership. They said depending on the dealership they may require me to pay upfront for the diagnosis but that would be reimbursed to me. They said they will be paying for the radio and repair as well. So only thing I need to pay is the initial diagnosis unless the dealership is friendly enough to just roll it into the bill for the repair and replacement.

Hi PerkyJeeps,

Were you able to connect with your dealer since opening a case number? Our team is available via PM if you need further support with your dealer or the Uconnect specialist.
